Why not?

Why not use spell checker?

Cut them some slack. It is their first post. Did you know what all of the buttons of our editor do the first time you posted?

I called Slacky, but he has not shown up yet!

Sometimes I just have the feeling people think of just "A" question to get into the forum, regardless what question it is.

Usually the browser comes with a spell checker nowadays. So one has only to watch the underlined words and correct them.

And the answer is no, I did not know what the buttons all were.

Hi Prajyot,

It takes machines to manufacture things and engineers (of all persuasions) to keep them going.

To design and maintain the machines that make up the cement industry there is plenty of mechanical engineering work to do. To operate these machines does not require a mechanical engineer.

Because it's needed for a number of reasons.

In the finish product it's self you need a good foundation, .... no pun intended...... from equipment to make the forms, mix the concrete or even the pour.

A structural engineer is needed here, as well as a materials engineer.

My girlfriend's son-in-law is a structural engineer, and they are using a Styrofoam foam type product in the concrete, he had to observe while it was being constructed. Lighter weight, with a little loss in strength.

Also, you need engineers as well as scientists to teach the next generations of structural engineers.

Owen Withey, a professor of mechanics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, back in 1910 had the foresight to do a study on concrete, I believe it started out as a 50 years study, but due to the amount of cement samples he made, it was extended to a 100 hundred year study.

Here is some info. It's an interesting read.

By the way Prajyot, Welcome to CR4.

They have their uses, but after 24 years in cement manufacture I gave up trying to find out what.

Probably because someone needs to remind people that Sn=F/a and Sb=MC/I and that's just the normal stuf :)

Every manufacturing plant is made up of main processing machines and supporting utilities.

Just like a doctor is required for looking after the well being of humans in every village, a Mechanical Engineer is required for looking after the Machines and Utilities of every manufacturing plant. Call them "Plant Engineers", "Utility Engineers", "Maintenance Engineers" or just "Mechanical Engineers"
