DISCUSS THE SELECTION OF WELDING POWER SOURCE WELDING CURRENT, POLARITIES, CLEANING ACTION, MAGNETIC ARC BLOW ETC THAT WOULD AFFECT THE QUALITY OF WELDMENT.

MY ASSIGNMENT. TOMORROW I WILL TO SUBMIT. PLEASE HELP ME !!

Along with all-caps, boldfacing and italics would help call attention to your urgent requirements.

In most cases, DCRP is probably the best bet, but there are exceptions. With luck, your examiner will focus on them.

Don't shout! When were you given the assignment, 4 weeks ago?

welding is too hard, drill a hole and use this

Even if welded together? ;-)

Surely, you can't be serious?

For an overnight answer it is the application of a lot of heat with possibly a filler metal or the application of extremely high pressures. Some times both.

For the complete answer you will have to put in the 40+ years like I did. Pay more attention to those scruffy old guys that can weld anything but a broken heart. They are the ones to listen to and do what they do (except chewing a plug of tobacco). Some book knowledge is good but the most is learned by making mistakes, fixing them and watching the old guys. Best if you can work as a helper for one of them to really know welding so can do a good job of it.

Good Luck, Old Salt

How about a lay mans language description of the high pressure welding process? I couldn't come up with any thing on google that actually describes the welding process used with high pressure forming the bond.

Layman's language----->

The explosion welding process uses the energy of an explosion to create a weld between metals. The process is most commonly used to clad steel with a thin layer of corrosion-resistant alloy metal, such as stainless steel, brass, nickel, silver, titanium, or zirconium. However, explosion welding can join nearly every kind of metal together. In fact, more than 260 metal combinations are possible.

The use of an explosive on one metal can very forcefully create a series of microscopic welds to another piece of metal. The many microscopic welds add up to one large weld, sometimes over a large area, depending on the amount of explosive used, its force, the contour of the receptor metal, the thickness of the exploded metal, and many other parameters. The pressure from the explosion creates the microscopic welds. I have used older mixer "tubs" up to 700gal that were steel that was clad with stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The following citations explain it further:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explosion_welding

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2u51tJdRDK0

https://www.nytimes.com/1985/09/17/science/many-uses-forecast-for-explosive-welding.html

It is not as strong as arc welding but does not have some of the disadvantages of arc welding, such as heat retention and warping.

Good Luck, Old Salt

Thanks for the effort, I was totally unaware of the process. That's what happens when you fall out of the workforce.
