08/17/2014 10:21 AM

It is noticed that some great Pop has deleted few of my good answer by voting against it. May God bless him

i know what you mean. i have also seen my GAs disappear suddenly. If they were indifferent answers, i wouldn't mind maybe. But when i get a GA for what i thought was a genuine good answer, it always generates a warm burst of pleasure, i admit shamelessly. GAs from the experts here on CR4 are to be treasured. So, some troll who negates such an answer depresses / angers me no end. Nothing to be done i expect, you have to live with such idiots.

I can't find it now but a few weeks ago we were told that an administrative cleanup removed some threads and the GAs went with them.

Having said that, there are a number of people who substitute their opinions on quality for ours.

Any GA vote can be canceled by anyone, not only the member who voted it a GA originally.

I've lobbied to restrict cancelation of GAs to only those who vote them in originally.

The forum admins. have not changed the process. Probably not worth the effort required.

If you identify the specific item, maybe the miscreant will restore your GA, or explain why voting otherwise. What you describe has probably happened to everyone on occasion.

That is the problem with opinions.

Yes it has happened to me on a number of occasions, I think it is called free speech?

Free speech is fine.

I take offense if I vote someone a good answer only to have it canceled out by someone who is anonymously taking revenge on the person whose answer I voted as good.

I've had groups of 5 or more GAs disappear all at once. That's not free speech. That's revenge.

Yes I agree, GA and OT, are the options we have at the moment. So let us look at the option, of a post, that has both GA and OT ratings, being considered as controversial? Management could look at displaying both GA and OT ratings where they apply, instead of just the total sum? Thereby indicating that the post is controversial?

Regards JD.

Yep. I know one OT troll here who, thankfully, has vanished. This particular individual systematically OT'd as many of my GA'd posts as he could before getting that "You or someone else has done this operation too many times" message.

Not only is it disheartening to these trolls' targets, it robs everyone by stripping both GAs and OTs of their intended utility. When having GAs just makes you someone's target, what's the point in having them? If they're no longer a reliable indicator of good posts, what's the point? If OTs are used to 'punish' someone, they become just a means of anonymously sniping at others from behind one's keyboard. The whole system is reduced to nothing more than petty rubbish. Thankfully the perp I caught in the act (there are ways to do this) has left the forum, hopefully never to return.

Yep, unfortunately we do still have at least one troll around that express's his opinion on where he feels your opinion is OT, or if you've misspelld a word or you use poor "U.S." grammer. Don't know if he was an instructor in english education, but he will OT your replys based on his opinion. So be forewarned for he is watching and grading you and quick to vote.

I'm sure it totally irks the shit out of him to see people post and English is their second language.

I would not mark anyone OT as I believe everyone should be free to express their opinions or mistakes. We can always follow up with a rebuttal of the post. GAs are an acknowledgement to a respected good post. Giving OT to a post is a true rebuttal of one's free speech. Recognize that is my opinion on an engineering site where discussion should be promoted not discouraged.

Dear Mr.Alavanderi,

About an year back, I also found 5 GA (for my Posting, as comment/reply/advise) disappeared, and I have posted to CR4 Admn, to know how it can happen.

Different views were posted by CR4 Members.

I consoled my self, as "THESE ARE ALL IN THE GAME and NO REGRETS." I did not attach much importance for Delition of GA.
