A purge is when Del the cat swipes his tail in all directions.

Or was that a purr?

Anyway purging is something awfully nice to the safety of mice that live in the control panels and helps that their home does not explosively self-destruct.

Until the cat gets there of course.

Did you do an internet research or was the question material not enough to come up with an answer? Well there is a hint. Maybe more context is needed.

Try expanding the questions with a few more sentences of information pertinent to what is wanted.

That refers to using a pressurized gas (usually air, but a real good system uses nitrogen) in an electrical panel to allow the use of non-rated components in an explosive atmosphere without using a 2" thick thousand pound aluminum cabinet. The system (purge) removes any explosive vapors from the cabinet at start up and keeps a positive pressure on the cabinet so explosive vapors cannot enter.

If you don't know these simple facts, you really don't want to get involved in this, as this is a system used in hazardous atmospheres.

If you are just interested and have a need to know, try Googling "Bebco". There is much about this on the internet and Bebco has a wonderfully complete primer on the subject. But please, don't try this without some professional assistance the first time.
