Changes In CR4 - Suggestion(s) Sought by CR4 Admin

Some time back (say 8 weeks ago) CR4 Admn, requested CR4 Members to send their suggestion(s)/expectation(s) etc. to improve the quality and maintain the lead.

I have suggested few points, and I request CR4 Admn, to inform the present status of the matter.

There have been many suggestions to Admin about how the site can be made "better", depending on what an individual thinks that is. You wanted to change the voting system to lock in good answers.

I think that we are lucky to be allowed to use this site, free of charge, just the way it is.

Since it takes time for the hosts to maintain and control the site, outside of their normal duties, I'm fine with it the way it is.

They have spent considerable time solving real problems (and a few that are perceived) and we should applaud them for that.

Well yea but if they really wanted to score points with us lowly users they would get rid of the AP system as has been asked for more times than most of us simple folk can count.

For spell check- can we have a drop down box with right click button as in word documents- as we keep typing, instead of using spell check icon?

Hi all

I agree with a previous comment that the free use of this site without being bombarded with spam is very generous, but....

When I check to status of a thread, I generally don't log on unless I need to comment.

When I do log on, I end up somewhere different, be good if we stayed on the same page.

I think you can use 'backspace' after logging in.

Thanks Kris, didn't quite work:

  1. Went to link in email
  2. Logged in
  3. Backspace (was still logged in, but wrong page)
  4. Backspace (right page, but no longer logged in)

The other trick from Nested to Flat works well, thank you

That's interesting. I've never tried backspacing in that fashion(), it was just something that was posted in one of the feedback threads. Maybe hitting refresh when back at the intended thread would work - I'll check it out next time I loggin.

Pleased to hear that the nested/chrono tip has helped. I find both formats useful, mainly depending on length of thread.

Yes, hitting Ctrl + R sorted things sorted things (on Firefox). The exact button might be browser dependent, but do the steps you listed and refresh the screen.

Apparently hitting Ctrl + R means start redundancy mode.

When you hit backspace to get to the page you want (but don't appear to be logged in), try hitting the F5 key. This will refresh and you should show up as being logged in.

When a member replies to another member it would be easier to locate/folow if published according to chronological order instead of publishing next to other member's comment.

Top of screen - change the blue highlighted comments tab from 'nested' to 'chronological'.

We are currently awaiting programming resources to begin implementing changes. CR4 is waiting in line behind some higher priorities. I will be sure to write a blog post outlining any changes that will be rolled out.
