Just what I want, another product from them that has no interoperability with non apple products. And you can only buy hardware from them, keeping it cost prohibitive.

Clearly for auto-drive to become a reality, we need another FAA type gov empire to control requirements. Just what we need more gov employees.

Would anybody wanted to buy an apple that's already been bitten a bit?

You would have thought that this "new" venture would have someone involved with enough imagination to come up with a unique name. "Titan" is the name of Toyota's full size pickup.

I can still see, read, think and navigate just fine without either Apple or Microsoft controlling my movements.

My grandchildren may need this, not me.

No!

So, operating system vendors are trying to apply their invaluable "crashing" experiences on potentially susceptible fields? S.M.

It had better be self-driving, since it won't be equipped with Windows!

Still, nothing like a Windoze-driven 18-wheeler on BSOD, coming right at you, no? S.M.

Sadly as one of the apparent few who still uses vehicles as a work tool I can't say I would want a self driving overly complicated chunk of plastic for a vehicle.

Ideally if it was up to me I would love to see something like the old International Harvester line of utility pickups and related vehicles come back to life! Maybe a bit more modernized but for the most part built as simple rugged work vehicles like they were 40+ years ago.

A solid frame, a comfortable seat, AC and heaters that actually can keep up with worst of climates, a radio that can be operated with heavy gloves on and as few other electronics and unnecessary frills as possible.

I find myself buying 'base model' vehicles with the minimum of frills, because I look at all those neato, gee-whiz things and think to myself, that crap is going to be a pain in the derriere to fix 10 - 15 years down the road when the gremlins start to creep in.

Most vehicles come with a ~3 year warranty thus that stuff should start to fail around 4 - 5 years so if you are getting 10 - 15 they likely need to know that they are overbuilding that stuff and redesign things.

so, if this car is an Apple, is it guaranteed not to "crash"? I certainly would not buy a Microsoft car. What will be the Operating System? RB7? (Seven rubber bands?)

A Microsoft car will quit running and leave you stranded in the middle of the night.

It will require a mandatory drive upgrade every 3 months, after which time Mockrosoft will require you to rent a drive system by the month. Miss a payment and the car stops running. Tech service? Forget it.

Why would I want to pay twice as much for a car that I can't repair or upgrade or replace the battery?
