Solving problems doesn't mean sequestering yourself to think about them. You also have to consider the talents, capabilities, and personal dynamics of the people who will be implementing any solution. And sometimes those people can provide you with an answer that you hadn't considered just because they stand closer to the action. This thoughtful piece comes from Business Week.

and sometimes farther away.

This can be taken two ways.

1.) they have a good or better perspective by not being engage as per with someone that is right next to it...

2.) sometimes it they are never far enough away....only because they enjoy hearing themselves talk, and never really have a real solution

The article is one of the rarest collection of value tips for group optimism. The main barricade in all humans involved group activities is the difference in values and the incompatibilities between team players. Say a team of ten top technocrats can do magical performance or a total mess due to non co operative work culture. I happen to mention this, based on my previous employment assignment story.

About 10 picked out technicians of various age groups were taken up for a new EOU project and given overseas advanced training. After project erection and trial runs, lot of discrepancies and conflicts developed between team players, collective goals were over looked, leading to annoyance of the management, the net result being gradual deletion[ firing out] of all the 10 foreign trained technicians and the project happened to be a total flap. The top man happened to have a biased opinion that youngsters will be too better to perform well and the senior persons' views and involvements were over looked.

That was a lively example about how group performance can be suicidal.

As the author rightly suggest, the top man's role play has a key point in group activity success. The valuable points to consider in this context could be,

* Formation of a conducive work culture

*Creating a open mind culture, discussive, conclusive based on a accepted resolutionary decision making culture. That is, the group should discuss all suggestions put forward, scientifically and realistically discuss pros and cons and put down convincing and appealing decisions acceptable to the whole group.

*Some people have the habit of suppressing others or silencing or deliberately over powering colleagual views just to keep up their dominant posture and status. They are potential virus species who can play havoc. A true leader has to estimate both character and potential analysis of player members and see to it that every ones' morality is kept in good health.

* Problem solving should be based on collective goals, even the route idea is from some body else, other's should also enter into the shoes of the suggester and put forth all possible measures to clear deficiencies on such viable ideas.

* Some experimental R & D and collective pre observation methods need to be under taken prior to major proceedings.

* A team is more of a common family and vital contributions are expected from all participants.

* A reasonably seasoned leader with multi disciplinary co players is an ideal choice in all group activities.

* Contributions need to recognized, appreciated openly and every one should enjoy the pleasure of participation and work out for success.

It is all about Scientific way of group functioning, all stake holders taking up moral, ethical standings and deliver a satisfactory and result oriented delivery.

If this tempo is well understood by all players, I think all games should be success missions.

One word of precaution is- 'Avoid blaming as an excuse, it is an other VIRUS'.
