Kage is majoring in chemical engineering at Clarkson University. She has worked at GlobalSpec for 2 years as a Web Content Technologist and has also done research under Professor Evgeny Katz at Clarkson. She also worked in a bakery for 3 years and as a dance teacher for 5 years.

Why did you choose to moderate?

I chose to moderate because I enjoy reading the intellectual and tasteful things people have to say on CR4. It is nice to change it up from staring at excel all day.

Favorite part about moderating?

My favorite part about moderating is reading the funny/witty things people have to say. Favorite question so far, "Why do computers get viruses and not bacteria?"

Favorite part about CR4?

My favorite part about CR4 is the chemical engineering section. I get a lot of interesting facts/conversation starters with professors/fellow students from there.

One word that best describes you?

Enthusiastic

How or from whom did you learn about CR4?

Baxter - He's been blogging about new technology since I started working here.

What would you say is the most interesting thing about you?

The fact that I am an Irish dancer.

What are your hobbies?

I have been an Irish dancer since I can remember, and have recently taken to triathlons. I enjoy spending time with the family and watching hockey (too bad the Bruins blew it) and working on my car with my dad.

Favorite Song/Album?

Mexico-James Taylor

What are 5 things you can't live without?

Arizona Green Tea, Music, The Chariot (my car), chocolate, twilight

Motto/Advice you live by?

"Wrinkles will only go where the smiles have been"-Jimmy Buffett

Always make the best out of what life throws at you!

Favorite childhood memory?

I found and hid an entire bag of Hershey kisses under my bed and then ate them all at 2 am after my parents went to bed.

Scariest moment of your life?

When I sprained my ankle two months before the national Irish dancing competition…I ended up coming back and having to work 10 times harder and then placed 15th (my PR).

Dear Kage, It is really sweet that your scariest moment was so prosaic. Try things like lost under the Williamsburg Bridge, or running back and forth in a zig zag pattern on the wrong end of Court Street in Brooklyn, or down a mountain with no snow tires on the Penn St. Turnpike, or in heavy traffic on an overloaded motorcycle crossing the Tappan Zee, or guns pointing at you when in the supermarket on Sunday night trying to get some bacon and coffee. Try out laying on the floor while a robber walks around with a pistol for scared.

I wasn't really scared when they tried to bash my brains out with a brick.

As a stagehand I carried a flashlight to show nice looking girls of Riverdance where to put their feet before they got into the blinding lights of the stage.

Here you are? I look forward to seeing you dance to music by The Chemical Brothers.

Well!

It sounds like someone has had far scarier experiences in their life so far than mine.. Can't say I've had any similar things happen to me, living under the rock that I have growing up (I still haven't even seen the movies back to the future, or ET) =) thanks for the input! And you can count on the fact that I'll be dancing until my legs stop working.

Kage,

It is refreshing to see another dancer in this technical forum. Upon completion of my initial stint into the Army, I duel-majored in Theatre and Dance. The job I had paying my way through school was a CAD Operator, so that's how I ended up in engineering after I shattered my ankle when my plant foot, after a leap, landed on an ice cube.

Was working as a performer on a cruise ship one summer, some kids sitting adjacent to the stage were throwing ice cube at each other and one landed on the stage. The show opened with me and my partner leaping out from the wings… and ended seconds later

I still do Community Theatre and dance, although permanent damage to that ankle limits me to triple pirouettes (4 on a good day) on that foot, not good enough for professional anymore.

Anyway… welcome, good luck study hard in school, and never stop dancing!
