Space Tourism

Posted September 26, 2010 7:51 AM

Space tourism is almost here. In the past two years, seven private travelers have journeyed to the International Space Station. And, in mid-September, Boeing announced its participation in a space taxi business. If you had the big bucks, would you fly to space? Should governments like Russia and the U.S. make spacecraft and facilities available for such use?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Motion Control Components, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Motion Control Components today.

1. No

2. Russia did it, made even space for the US Nasa in the passenger seats for years.

Why not? Not for me now, but maybe in my next time around.

Charles Darwin was just a tourist on the Beagle.

It's kind of like asking if you should drive a Beamer. Answer is not unless you have a lot of money to waste. Same with space travel. 7 people did it. Big deal. Now we can go back to sleep.

250 miles and "space" have nothing in common. Until matter can be moved, skip the clunky contraptions currently in use. Cleveland to Cincinnati is considered a short trip by Ohioans.
