After the boom, high-tech gives way to 'clean tech'

What a great prospect if all the effort and achievement that we saw in personal computing and micro electronice from 1980 to 2000 could be redirected into solutions for the coming crises of pollution and climate change.

However, it is still a disappointment that the " lawyers, accountants and PR firms" will of course make fat profits out of the efforts of the engineers and scientists to solve these pressing world problems.

It's about time!!! Actually it is past due!

"past due" I agree.

But tell me any major movement in history that was motivated by the well being of mother earth. All that I can think of were due to greed; political, monetary or religious. And of those religion has been the most destructive.

Anyways, untill "being green" is part of one of those agendas we will continue to plunder the earth. It is begining to look like being green is profitable so in comes those looking to make a buck green or not, I think thier just after the money. But they'll say they feel good about helping the earth.

On a brighter side, it should help keep the earth a little cleaner for the rest of us. So yes, be glad, it is about time.

For the most part few people here in the UK take religion too seriously, so maybe the new GREEN ETHOS is just a new form of religion, as it gives people a belief system which is above the mundane inanity of ordinary life.

If profit can be made from the green agenda, that is good for then many more will be motivated to take it up.

Last weeks billionaire figures showed that so many of the very rich are returning to philanthropy to leave a useful mark on this world before tay are gone..... Good for them.
