EPA Could Squash Power-Gen Capacity

Posted January 14, 2011 6:54 AM

Power Engineering editor David Wagman addresses an industry report estimating that four proposed EPA regulations could result in a loss of 19 % of fossil-fired steam capacity by 2018. Writes Wagman: "2011 promises to mark the start of a dynamic and turbulent era in U.S. electric power generation."

What can one say, suck it up you fossil fuel burning scumbags. From all of us on the environmental side to all of you on the side of the enemy, have a nice day and look out for more of the same coming up your rear.

How is that popularity contest going for you?

You are aware that you could not be here online if it was not for us "fossil fuel burning scumbags". What do you think the computer you are using was made from and what powers all those networks and servers you used to get here as well?

This is not good news. Losing 19% of capacity, when demand is increasing, sounds like a disaster. This EPA policy seems to be based on the assumptions that fossil fuel plants can be easily replaced by "renewables" and that "we have all the technology we need" to clean up CO2 emissions. Neither of those assumptions is realistic.

Wow another bad Blog entry, designed to incite rather than inform

instead of linking to the actual regulations, we get a link to an opinion piece & the inevitable knee jerk reactions here

GA.

The document title, "Potential Resource Adequacy Impacts of U.S. Environmental Regulations.", shows that NERC set out to find negatives, from their point of view, probably any potential negatives since they can no more tell the future than I can.
