Green Gas Standards to Save Cash, Cut Carbon

Posted October 06, 2011 7:00 AM

For the first time ever, new green and energy efficient gas standards introduced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency are to be instituted to both medium and heavy-duty construction and highway vehicles, reports Engineering News-Record. While the strict standards are projected to initially cost owners upwards of $8 billion in equipment retrogrades, it promises to save $50 billion in fuel three to seven years down the road. Do you view the new emission standards as a way to promote a cleaner environment without compromising on equipment efficiency?

"it promises to save $50 billion in fuel three to seven years down the road."

I suppose this is the same kind of promised saving in health care too. Anytime our Federal Government promises us anything, hang on to your wallets. They do nothing but screw things up.

I suppose this is all aimed at stopping the non-existent manmade "global warming, global cooling, climate change, etc." It's such a load of "bull manure".

When the industry produces more fuel efficient equipment on it's own and business people see the money they can save by upgrading to more fuel efficient equipment they will buy it.

"While the strict standards are projected to initially cost owners upwards of $8 billion in equipment retrogrades,"

And we wonder why we have a true unemployment rate of about 15%? Businesses are being mandated to spend even more or their shrinking capital and cutting their profits even more. They aren't hiring more people because there aren't as many projects to work on and therefore the jobs for new hires isn't there either.

You people are making a deliberate attempt to finally make me snap. Is that it?

Yes. This wonderful measure, combined with the greed tax that will be implemented on any person or small business that makes over $200,000 US a year is the sure path to clean air and economic recovery.

The EPA is allowed to just make new rules willy nilly, because it sounds good.

People wonder why I'm freaking angry.

Gee Whiz, why are we having so much trouble competing with the Chinese?

Obviously it's their fault because their currency is undervalued..................RIGHT!

Hey, I've got an idea!

Why retrofit them? Let's do a cash for clunkers deal and crush them.

We can sell the scrap to China for pennies, and borrow money from China to buy new, clean burning machines from...........................Drum roll please..................CHINA!!!!

Brilliant!!!!!!

Afterwards, we can impose high tariffs on them because they don't play by the rules.

This stuff is so far beyond being funny.

We are living in a twisted Orwellian nightmare.

Given that there are around 350 million people in the USA now a $50 billion savings works out to about $142.86 per person.

In a three year time frame thats only $47.62 per year and over a 7 year scale thats only $20.41 per year.

Personally I can save $142.86 in a year or less in a dozen different ways let alone taking three to seven years to do it.

Personally I think that taking a few key people in the EPA and certain government agency's out behind the barn and giving them a good old fashioned beat down could probably save us ten times that amount every year.

Heck it could even raise that $50 billion if we televised the beat downs and made them pay per view!

I'll pay $100 to watch and $200 if I can participate.

Multiply that by the other 200+ million people who would likely give the same or more and we may just have a way of ballancing the national budget too!

An uncle from Nigeria just died and left me 50 million dollars. I can only retrieve it if I get 1000 investors to each give me 1000 dollars. Please wire the checks directly to my Cayman Islands bank account. I promise to repay you 2000 dollars when I get my uncle's money.

Oh, I'm sorry this is the wrong page, I'll post it anyway who knows, anybody who believes the above EPA ruling will probably believe my heartbreaking story.

Jim not from Nigeria
