I remember a story many years back that the A-10 Thunderbolt II requirements was originally set by the Army. The Army wanted a flying tank buster that could linger in or around a battle front for heavy weapons support of ground troops. This renewed a feud between Army and Air Force commanders inside the Pentagon because all armed fixed wing aircraft were the domain of the Air Force. The Air Force only wanted faster and higher flying aircraft that would achieve air dominance in a theater. The ground was not the Air Force's concern.

This idea of making fixed wing armored personnel carriers flown by the Army seems like a way to stir up precisely this inter-service argument again.

'The Three Stooges' had a movie to that effect.

Just because it's feasible doesn't mean it's wise,

practical,

intelligent,

safe,

cost effective,

worthwhile,

useable in a practical sense.

But, I know, none of that matters.

Lets see, I predict it will be over budget and do neither, drive or fly, well.
And that the contractor will leave out the armor until forced by combat losses to put it in.

Why not tie a rocket onto it and use it as a missile? It would flatten everything in its path!
