What Tops Your Innovation List?

Posted December 27, 2011 12:35 PM

With each new year comes new prognostications on what the future may hold. The Society of Manufacturing Engineers' list of innovations that could change the world of manufacturing includes such innovations as "smart magnets" that can be re-programmed to change their poles or strength, the use of quantum dots to make solid-state lighting and electroluminescent displays more energy-efficient, and remote "presence robots" that allow people to remotely "attend" a meeting. What's your reaction to the list? On target? What innovations would you add?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Data Acquisition, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Data Acquisition today.

All inventions are made for humans but are we safe in the world. Take Iraq which was attacked based on a "bogus report" that Sadaam had weapons of mass destruction. First we should protect races, communities, civilisations who has no political power or UN representation. If they can "save elephant","save rhino" why can't they "save minorities". Why superpowers and UN cover up destruction by "internal affair","sovereignty of state" etc. They should respect sovereignty of individuals, races, communities, regions etc and give UN representation to all communities with more than 50million of population and cluster representation to smaller communities. First borders/states created by UK should be revised so that one community cannot damage another. "Who is going to bell the cat"?.

The worst thing we can do is mix religion and state. All the major atrocities through out history have been caused by mixing those two. And I'm not just talking about Muslims, Christens have just as much blood on their hands as anyone else.

Adding more people to the UN will only make a bad situation worse. As very little, that I can see, gets done in the UN to help anyone.

As for innovations, I believe the 3D printers and/or rapid prototypers such as the Rep-Rap project go a long way to assist small, independent innovators realise their potential.

I don't say "add" more people to UN but organise it so that the representation will be fair to all like "proportional representation" in some countries but with safeguard to minor communities. You should give representation to a)large communities with more than 50 million of world wide population b)Countries with high per capita income and implement social security, welfare,human/workers rights etc c) multinational communities, e)cluster representation to small communities f)declaring as "abnormal states" countries who had racial unrest, civil war, massacres, police state, rule under "emergency",enacted draconian legislation, where foreign press even local minority legislators not allowed, having people in detention centres, having list of missing persons, discrimination in employment, police and armed forces, not developing certain regions where minority lives, diluting minority by settling majority, demolishing minority settlements, declaring communities as "stateless",creating war and blaming the grieved party, killing journalists, holding minorities as life-time hostage, getting cover from UK,Japan,India,China etc to hide state-terrorism etc etc. First they should reclassify countries into first world, second world, third world, new world(arabs, malaysia, singapore, taiwan,S korea etc) and abnormal world(Myanmar,Ruwanda etc).

If they can attack iraq twice(Kuwait/weapons of mass destruction),impose sanctions on South Africa(apartheid) etc by passing UN resolution why don't they pass resolution to protect minorities, unrepresented communities in UN, punish leaders who pass draconian legislation to harass, humiliate, detain indefinitely, execute, torture countrymen, get other countries to support them etc. Why they gave UN representation to minor communities ignoring major communities(50million) as well as multinational communities.

No, peace is an illusion. It will never happen as long as there are people who look out only for themselves. I realy don't think peace will ever be an option for humanity as it goes against our nature.

Case in point, two groups of christin priests fighting each other in a church in bethlehem on christmas.

Just sums it up doesn't it.
