MIT researchers have devised a new system to defend against online identity theft using the security machinery of Bitcoin. The new system has implications that go beyond Bitcoin. It can be used to secure other types of systems.

I really hope this is effective. There is far too much data on all of us on the internet. The more the criminals know about a person, the easier it is for them to steal his or her identity.

That is unless that person's identity is so repulsive (as in me), that no one would dare desire to steal it!

A pig's lips only have one purpose in life, as they make poor BBQ. But one can still make a silk purse from a sow's ear, if the intent, time, and energy are sufficient.

Silly. By reasonable inference. Neither would I consume the other end of a pig.
