What Is It? Blog

What Is It?

What Is It? is a place for engineers to test their knowledge (and sense of humor). Each week (or month, or...) the CR4 team will post an unidentified picture of an object, tool, animal, something. We're looking for your best (or funniest) guesses at what it might be in the comments.

Yes, we take [appropriate] submissions. Send them to cr4admin@ieeeglobalspec.com.

Looks too ornate for that. Must have been the deluxe model.

Or the plunger for a butter churn?

Could be, but it also bears a resemblance to some of the old funnels I have sitting upside down with a piece of dowel stuck in the outlet ......

Good one. Lol Daleks never impressed me as being particularly threatening. More like they annoy their victims to death. As a kid I wanted to punch 'em. Bloody Roombas with an Attitude! Poor Ms. Pinocchio in that pic, looks like the lyin' biotch is being fitted with a strain-relief following the incident in which the first salesman bent over to tie his laces. She denies it of course... :-#

Looks sort of like a weight that the old-time printers used to use to press and flatten- out the paper to the typeset prior to lowering the boom (for a lack of a better term) and applying the high pressure.......this occurring before the invention of modern mechanical printing presses (like in Benjamin Franklin's time).

[If you have ever visited Colonial Willamsburg in Virginia, then you'd know what I am talking about.]
