I actually like your thought on the lava flow. I can picture some like my brother in law to be standing on a lava flow. He's a professor at Pittsburgh University with way too many Phd's. Smartest kid I know!

Here is a little more about the photographer and posing for this shot. He apparently takes a lot of pictures of volcanos in Hawaii.

It is amazing how the surface of lava cools to the point where it acts as an insulator just like hot coals enable people to do firewalking. I can walk out here and take my time taking a photo without any problems. Here, watch.
