Tethered Drone Offers Long Endurance

The U.S. Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office is testing a tethered quad rotor UAV for surveillance and security applications. The AeroVironment Tether Eye flies at 150 ft altitude above a fixed or mobile platform.Continuous power provided by the tether allows the vehicle to serve as a long-term "virtual observation tower" with day and night vision systems.
