That's the Cathedral of Brasilia, aka (português) Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora Aparecida, "Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of Aparecida." Designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer.

A RC Church near where I live also has that architecture. I guess it is a popular form.

There were once a couple of them in my town, though the architecture was not quite so open.

Church of Holy Updraft and Discount House of Worship (where you really CAN take it with you; just give it to us and we'll meet you on the Other Side™).

Nice play upon words, the nuclei of sentences.

I can't imagine how excited the throngs would be if the place were filled to the rafters with cold neutrons?

Most churches are: Home of the Frozen Chosen.

Fortunately, not all churches are like that, and I suppose most of the frozen chosen have gone on to their reward - the cold, cold ground.

I dunno, most that I've seen are still stacked in pews, awaiting interment.

Maybe you are right, I still believe, try to love all people (it is hard sometimes), but I seldom darken the doors to the halls of religiosity.

Your heart is the throne of God, who lives there? (for you to answer in your own heart, not particularly my business). God grant you peace and joy enough.

Natural draft cooling towers do not have to be associated with a nuclear plant.

Sorry, but that is a huge disservice to the natural draft tower.

Andrew Westman was exactly right this week. This is the Cathedral of Brasilia, designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The cathedral has a diameter of 230 ft, but is most often noted because “the only visible structure of cathedral” consists of sixteen concrete columns, with “parabolic sections,” intended to represent two hands reaching up to the sky.
