How is a super Sonic jet green ? The faster a jet goes and the faster it gets there, the more fuel it burns.

Safer ? Unless all of the Passengers got ejection seats or parachutes, it ain't no safer than anything else.

Quieter ? Maybe on the inside. Those of us on the outside still have to listen to the boom.

I'm happy for folks to climb mountains 'because they are there', but shouldn't we concentrate the best brains and resources on clean water, irrigation, flood control, healthcare..... i.e. solving the problems we have here before we face problems of getting somewhere else?

Many of the water challenges have already an answer for them, with new technology coming down the pipeline all the time. The "crisis" is nothing more than poor management practices in nearly every case, outdated infrastructure that wastes millions of gallons of water daily, and other issues like brain-dead people irrigating their lawns full out during the hottest, driest part of the day, running water down the curb, etc.

The rest of it, is expanding urbanization that apparently wants and uses far more water than they should.

In the meantime, the real water resource (the entire planet) has water, sometimes too much if you ask me. Again, poor management, planning, new infrastructure lacking. If people want more water, they should elect officials that provide more water, plain and simple.

You are so right, when looking at the USA (and here in the UK). I was thinking globally.
