GM1964 hit the nail on the head when he guessed that this winterhouse resides at the botanical garden of Curitiba — and here I thought I’d be able to stump all of you with the resemblance to “the glass palaces of 19th-century France” and England. Instead, this greenhouse, and others in the botanical garden located in southern Brazil, were constructed by architect Abraão Assad in 1991, according to Architectural Digest.

SolarEagle has certainly provided plenty of pictures of the winterhouse, but you may also be interested in a brief history of the English glasshouse provided by Hartley Botanic, which touches on the worldwide history of the greenhouse, beginning in 30 AD.
