Looks like a 'free range' farm...

Looks like someone kept adding additions and used a different Architect and style each time.

What makes you think they used an architect?

Reminds me of a polygamist's house--the additions were built to keep the feuding wives apart.

Maybe a horse ranch in the South West of the US.

Just looks like that area with a large plane then mountains rising suddenly in the background.

Last week’s building was the Hill Country House. According to the architects (via ArchDaily), “the Hill Country House serves as a beacon to show what could be: a self-sustaining home in a rural setting, virtually independent of municipal water and energy.” The design earned a 4-star rating from Austin Energy Green Building, with the help of an 8-kilowatt solar array, a 5-ton geothermal system, and a 30,000-gallon rainwater collection system.

Sounds like 100 square feet living space and 500 square feed amenities.

And who would have thought they used an architect!

Yep! ...and if it is a "beacon", it's a pretty dim one in my mind.
