Solar Eagle was correct in guessing last week’s building. Designed by J Mayer H, last week’s building was the Sarpi Border Checkpoint, which sits between Turkey and Georgia. Architect Magazine describes a few viewer interpretations of the building, for example, that it looks “distinctly figurative—the observation tower a head, the checkpoint gates a tail” or like “the prow of a ship.”

According to the architect, they were “surprised at how easy it was to build…” saying: “They don’t have the regulations we have … in Germany.” Whether you view that as a building pro or con, the structure certainly holds a dramatic place in the skline.
