How's about the Teddy Geisel Library Building at (UCSD)UC San Diego CA! If skeptical, I could ferret out a picture but the sketch suffices to remind me of the structure dedicated to the 'Cat in the Hat' guy.

Well done! Are you familiar with the UCSD campus or are you an aficionado of weird library architecture?

Well... As an Architecture student at ASU many years ago, I happened to meet and become friends with Dr. H.S. Thompson who after asking my question that sealed our friendship for many years after... "when the going gets weird ~ the weird turn pro!"

However, at this time I live near San Diego, attended there for a Semester and do know that Theodore Geisel and his wife have been benefactors to the university in a generous manner before his death. Noting, the cantilevered building design is distinctive and pleasing to the eye and the weird. I don't think this response will be deemed 'off-topic'.

Definitely not off-topic. I look at this building and wonder how the upper floors stay suspended. Figuring out how to build weird-looking buildings is one way to push the boundaries of design and materials, I guess.

Just hope the building works well as a library as well as an architectural statement.

It looks Chinese from this angle, but I stand to be corrected

Also reminiscent of the old pier in St. Petersburg, FL.

That's been demolished, and a new pier is in the planning stages....
