Yet now, as it reaches a level of maturity, the industry itself is undergoing fundamental change. The barriers to entry for new competitors are formidable to say the least, and the existing players have to reposition themselves so that they can succeed. Reduce Costs. The cost of producing semiconductors need to be reduced enough so that one can recover investment capital of the factory.
