Obesity Linked To Decreased Seatbelt Use

Posted January 04, 2008 10:05 AM

From ScienceDaily: Latest Science News:

Obese people are less likely to use their seatbelts than the rest of the population, adding to the public health risks associated with this rapidly growing problem. Seatbelt use declined as BMI increased, with approximately 55 percent of extremely obese individuals reporting they did not use a seatbelt.

That's because they can't get behind the wheel.

The seatbelts are not long enough, either.

That's about the wide of it.

There are those who have had to remove the front seat of the car, and drive from the rear seat, so as to get behind the wheel.

Kind Regards....

Here I am, what what what?

What are you implying? I am not fat! I am as skinny as a rake and at 6'5" that seems to look hilarious to most other people.

I have a friend, yeah that friend story again I know, who must be close to 350 lbs and he can wear a seatbelt. It takes some doing and admittedly he will not fit in any old car but still. He is 6'3" as well so any Fiat or Vw is out of the question.

You are right about the useless crap, why do we need to know any of this. We are all obsessed with useless crap and it starts to show through in every aspect of our society.

I don't know what is more mind boggling for me:

a.) The amount of resources dedicated to learning/finding out this crap

b.) The amount of useless crap that some people think is somehow important.

c.) The amount of people interested in this crap.

d.) The amount of crap that comes into existence as a result of the original crap

or e.) The amount of this crap that is taking up space in my head!

No wonder I can't find my keys!

Like my Granpa used to say, "Boy, if people knew half as much shit as they NEEDED to know, they'd know twice as much as they do now."

Did you see that first reply to my post in that other thread about smiling etc?

What a total waster. It is people like that that keeps it going I suppose.

Hello case491,

It's just a few 000's and 111's.

They don't take up much room.

Kind Regards....

Not in the UK. Being FAT does not absolve you from the law.
