The High Costs of HVAC Dependency

Posted January 06, 2008 6:32 AM

Maintenance and engineering departments can help their organizations minimize (HVAC) energy costs by being more proactive in monitoring the entire range of energy-using systems and developing a comprehensive approach to identifying energy waste. The five steps toward efficiency include: Education, Determine priorities for operating and maintaining the building, Patience, Find a consultant you trust, and always get a second opinion. How is the growing global trend to reduce the high energy costs of HVAC dependency creating new industry opportunities? Can a systems approach support savings?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from HVAC, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to HVAC today.

One approach to the saving of high energy costs is simple natural design. This comes through in the ventilation of toilet atmospheres, stair wells. car parks and the use of ground water in fire systems and toilet flushing. The monetary saving on these simple things builds to a large return over the life of the building.

"SOLAR POWER" - Deal or No Deal ? - That's the question... But, in the midtime the ('MURPHY LAW') apply. This probably sounds fun but think about it.

I do have a little idea here, just brainstorming, dont bring to "the bank" yet, He ha ha Hi...! But not, seriously now....Enougth with the story.

"Cooling from Sun Power" here we go /. Probably-- by heating up the 'refrigerant' with some 'Solar Panels' and compressing it tour the condenser by an "Screw Compressor" or "Rotary Compressor" addapted some how and moved by a "Wind Powered" set of gears linked for this 'Puppy' in order to sustain 'refrigerant' flow across the loop, we'll be able to make it pumping througth without much need for "Electrical Juice".

"Heating from Sun Power" here we go /. Probably by using a good set of "Solar Panels and Photho Cells" hook up thruw a "Heat Exchanger" of some kind with heating unit furnace to boost it up. Having an (ex. 50/50 % glycol solution ) or so flowing in this loop, again, thruw the "Heat Exchanger" moved by a circulator (Pump), again, drived by the 'Wind Gear' to sustain flow accross this loop will get the loop hot enougth to cut a chunk of fuel comsumption. There are also many others good ideas outthere which will have great results I'll bet...! We'll we find out eventually down the road. Allset, you folks have a nice one now easy does it....

Brilliant,

MC
