Real ID Complicates Air Travel

Posted January 25, 2008 8:20 AM

Travelers may find airport security more demanding this spring, as U.S Homeland Security heads toward a showdown with state governments. As a result of post-Sept. 11, many may be unable to use current driver's licenses as airport IDs by May. By 2014, anyone seeking to board an airplane or enter a federal building would have to present a REAL ID-compliant card (over age 50 — by 2017). Wireless technology gives us the ability to do much more. But is the price of Real ID worth it?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Wireless Technology, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Wireless Technology today.

Paper please! not a question. The US gov. got the states to give up sovereignty in 1940? with the BUCK ACT. Washington state became The State of Washington ( a title) You did not have to be a US citizen to be a state Citizen. The freedoms were traded for privileges. Now the privilege is in forced.

Freedom? just try to assert it, opportunity yes.

The US gov. is also passing a tax of 15% to any one who wishes to drop their US citizenship.

Public servents now masters

Is the price worth it? Are you kidding me, Is giving up freedom and sovereignty worth a sense of safety. And it is a sense of safety, safety cannot be guaranteed.

Those who would trade security for freedom deserve neither ~ Ben Franklin

How about the fact that the price is moot, because it is Unconstitutional. Identification is not specifically called out so it up to the states per the 10th Amendment.

Be prepared for a whole lot more if our nation doesn't wake up. First it will be anNational ID card, then it will be a North American Union ID and then it will be Verichip or some other variation of RFID tagging. Don't be cattle, don't accept this card.

I don't know about the rest of you guys on CR4 but if I wasn't allowed to fly commercially or enter a Federal Building ever again I would consider that a blessing.
