US To Launch Military Orbital Spaceplane

Posted July 31, 2008 8:39 AM

From Slashdot:

Not only is the US readying its first 100% military spaceplane for a November launch, but it's going to push NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter mission til 2009: 'The USAF and Boeing will launch the X-38B — the first military orbital space plane if you discount the secret military shuttle — on top of an Atlas V rocket in November. They want to test its flying features in space and during atmospheric reentry. And probably its anti-matter rays and nuclear bays and hyperspace engines too (but of course, they are never going to tell you that). However, there seems to be a conflict with the civilian space program which may push one of the Moon exploration missions to 2009.' Screw the moon. We have to defend ourselves against all those alien extremists from Mars!

Let's hope they have solved the "loose tiles" problems, or we are going to have to wear our hard hats again during the descent.

Kind Regards....

They already have!!!! NASA is civilian, remember? That's why they don't have access to such technology! If you believe the rumors, the USAF has access to alien technolgy that enables them to travel faster-than-light over interstellar distances and super death rays that can demolish an entire mountain!!!! Oh yeah, and biological weapons that target your genetic make-up, so that only people of certain races will be killed!!!!

No we aren't to bad insecure, I really don't think we're secure enough. As our great forefathers have stated :

" How could a readiness for war in times if peace be safely prohibited, unless we could prohibit,in like manner, the preparations and establishments of every hostile nation?" James Madison

"To be prepared for war, is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace."George Washington.

I am not or ever will be sorry for this country to try and preserve the security and peace of other nations, call it "preventive maintenance" our PM program requires certain operations. Some time bad parts can be found and rebuilt to spare the machine, sometimes you need to replace the entire machine.

Now back to topic. I think this is what they will explain what has been seen in our sky's for the past 60 years. I think this is what they will say Edgar Michal has been talking about.

Well said.

What our "Allies" ( for the most point, in name only. France and Germany) conveniently and forever forget is that they have been under the protective umbrella of the hated Americans since the end of World War II. A war, you will recall that started in Europe was started by Europeans and was the result of the the harsh and vindictive reparations against Germany, demanded by Europeans, after World War I, and which we opposed and refused to participate in and which precipitated the Nazis. World War I, in case you don't know what all of those white crosses scattered across your countries, is yet another war we sacrificed our young men to wage on your behalf.

So, while all of you USAophiles in Europe sit around pandering to the Extremist Muslim hordes you are "accomodating" (read capitulating to) and bringing to your bosom preparing yourselves for the next catastrophy, all the while demeaning the Americans.

Remember, WE did not occupy your countries after we used our "Arsenal of Freedom" to supply you and our young men to drive the Arian Hordes to submission. Russia, also your Ally, occupied Europe for over 40 years until another American you scoffed at, bankrupted the Soviet Union and brought down the walls that separated you from your European brothers.

Our European brothers conveniently forget and fear our space plane. Winston, where are you?

USA! USA! USA! DID I say that out loud? I hope so. I do not offer this to people that are north of the Mason Dixon line, but if I may offer you freedom and happiness, come on down!!! The south... as of now is free and great all year round! I am not much of a fan of "Yankees" but as a fellow patriot you are welcome here. Very well written dissertation on American history, perhaps if more countries would study "our" history and see how it enables them to have a future, things would be much easier.

Thank you Mr. Morgan for you "truth be told"

Thank you.

I admit to being a Yankee however, at least 25% of my heritage is Kentucky and my horse is a Tennessee Walker so I can't be all that bad. In my heart I'm a country boy.

My, my, my, my.

'..pandering to the Extremist Muslim hordes you are "accommodating" (read capitulating to) and bringing to your bosom preparing yourselves for the next catastrophe'

'Remember, WE did not occupy your countries after we used our "Arsenal of Freedom" to supply you and our young men to drive the Arian Hordes to submission.'

The reason the U.S. state and it's impressed army (Remember they were drafted, forced to serve) did not occupy Europe, or for that matter turn directly on its Allie the Soviet Union, was that by the end of the war those impressed troops (Not much different from the pressed "recruits" of the old British "press gangs") had had enough and were in a state of near mutiny, about to shoot and frag their officers as later they did in Viet Nam, and were organizing huge "We want to go home" movements."

Also, as to WWI, it seems these "gentlemen" do not know that it was the Bolshevik Revolution, fraternization across the lines and rebellions by the troops of all nations there engaged, that forced the end of that war. It was only by an ace that the Russian Revolution did not give over to a European revolution and then, because of the technical aid the Bolshevik government would have been afforded, certainly by a Soviet Germany, we might not have had to suffer all these years of Stalin and the counter-revolutionary bureaucracy he founded.

I don't imagine an apology to the working people of the many nations that come here seeking technical knowledge is necessary for these folks racist and Nazi sentiments. Surely they already know, given our present outlaw government, that such as these exist.

Perhaps these types ought to take the place of the many young men and women who because of their color joined up hoping to get a better education or job then they could otherwise here in the States and soon too, if not already, will be near mutiny.

It wasn't the altruistic, magnanimous contribution you make out.

If it wasn't for Pearl Harbour you'd have sat back, let Europe bankrupt itself.

As it was Churchill eventually got you to participate, and we have only just finished paying you back, at a usurious rate.

London Coventry Portsmouth Bristol...just a few cities that were hammered by the Luftwaffe... oh, but your politicians were out of range counting the dollars pouring in.

Of course we recognise the brave and selfless contribution made by your servicemen, but your leaders stitched us up like kippers.

I won't bother mentioning the Iraq debacle.

Del

Hi Del,

That was telling them! I have many American friends who have kept on to me for years about how they got us out of a sticky end during WW11, but I always tell them what you have just put down in writing!

I actually like the Americans, but I do not condone their politicians attitude to us here in the UK. Now their glorious Mr Bush has threatened Iran, but what gives him the idea that they and they only shall police the world? God knows the American public is just as fed up with that disasterous war in Iraq as we are, but as always it is the polititians who are the war mongers!!!

I have just read that the Americans will gain access to personal details of thousands of British citizens and their data bases will be able to trawl thousands of data bases here in the UK, and no one will ever know it is happening!

Of course, our politicians are no better as they have given the green light to such activity. I am fed up with all this surveilance on our citizens, and it is no good them telling me that If I have nothing to hide, what am I bothered about. I believe in freedom and privacy.

Spencer.

If it wasn't for the government turning a blind eye and letting the pacific fleet get decimated by a naval attack by the japanese, sure I think you all in europw would be living a WHOLE different life... a lot different... Luckily, the pencil necks had the carriers out to sea (where was their support groups?) and they were ready for the call to arms to go out there and kick some ass! The Iraq debacle? Touche, just a grab for oil....???? Or to get sadam out of power so that he did not start pushing the issue of leaving the American dollar in order to cuddle up with the euro?!? Who knows? People are going to say what they want-you, me and everyone else know that. The 'sheep' are the people that are going to be led by everything that is reported to them by the "news agencies". The very ones that are being fed a load of crap by the rich and powerful, the government, whoever it is that is pulling their strings...

Trust NO ONE hahahahahaaaaa I have been watching Way too much X files lately!!

Ferris

ps Del don't feel like the US gov't is solely screwing your gov't, it is going all the way around the world from all the "people in power..." (ie- don't just look at us as being at fault...)

Hello Morgan 23

War is started by greedy International Bankers, who lend money to both sides, punish the losing side by territorial removals, and punish the "winning side" with high-interest loans.

There has not been a war or major conflict in the last 200+ years, which was not fomented by the International Bankers, who carefully remain in the background, snatching vast amounts of interest on the "money" which is generated at the stroke of a pen or keyboard.

The entire purpose of all war is to bring peoples and Nations into debt.

Into the indebtedness to the International Bankers, who have the plan to control the world, and everyone in it.

This has been well documented, but generally not allowed on major News networks, Newspapers etc, because the ultimate owners of those Networks are the International Bankers themselves.

Remember Alaska, sold to the US for US$6,000,000 which the then Tsar took advice from International Bankers, who told the Tsar at the time: "Это - только земля льда, и отрицательный результат к любому".

"It is just a land of ice, and no good to anyone".

Kind Regards....

Re: US To Launch Military Orbital Spaceplane

Air power is large part of American military superiority. Air power has it limits and airplanes can be shot down. Airplanes provide time sensitive, in theatre intelligence resources - i.e., during a battle a plane can be deployed for both intelligence gathering and sharing.

It would be far cheaper and easier to simply deply more spy satellites if we were only interested in surveillance. A space plane allows for theatre specific resources to be deployed. It more importantly allows the USA to demonstrate that can deploy weapons to space whenever we choose without actually having to deploy those weapons in space. We are currently a signatory to a treaty which prevents the weaponization of space. However, it is naive to assume that no other country, even other signatories, will deny themselves the benefits of the weaponization of space.

Today the US owns the skies with its air power. The people who fought against us - Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan - without air power have only achieved the success they have at a very high cost in people. All of those enemies have lost a lot more people than the US has.

Other uses for a space plane include the repair of satellites and the deorbitting of space junk. Space junk, especially in Low Earth Orbit, is becoming a bigger problem each year.
