Cancer Will Soon Become World's No. 1 Killer, With Developing Nations Hit Hardest

Posted December 15, 2008 8:21 AM

From Discover Magazine | RSS:

Cancer will be the world's leading killer by 2010, edging out heart disease for the top spot, according to the latest report by the World Health Organization (WHO). Though cancer rates in the United States have just recently begun to decrease, elsewhere in the world cancer is on a steady rise. Experts cite tobacco, increasingly Western lifestyles, and inadequate medical care as the factors contributing to the cancer epidemic in developing countries. "In the U.S., we pay a lot of attention to cancer trends, and the trend has been encouraging," says Dr. Richard Schilsky… "But we have forgotten that there is a big wide world out there. Cancer is a global problem"

Hi,

effectively reducing the rate of other killers will leave cancer to be the major threat.

That's quite natural.

The title should read: most killer diseases can be treated to a good result, so we have to concentrate on the many different cancers (more than 1200) now!

Cancer the end result of greed and stupidity most of the time. Inhaling hot phosphorus in the cloud of chemicals, that if not incinerated at high heat would be a bio-toxin and cost a fortune to dispose of, is not exactly brilliant use of ones mind.

We haven't forgotten about the big wide world, as a public (not our world bank Government) we consider that is their freedom of choice. What gives us the right to dictate their actions unless it directly effects us?
