First Anti-Stab Knife Prevents Deadly Kitchen

Posted June 16, 2009 11:48 AM

From Gizmodo:

With gun laws being a little stricter in the UK, the weapon of choice for day to day murdering can often be found in the kitchen. That's why the first anti-stab knife is now ready for sale there. As the designer notes: Mr Cornock, 42, from Swindon, said that the knife will cut vegetables, but will make it almost impossible to stab someone to death and will reduce the risk of accidental injuries. He said: "It can never be a totally safe knife, but the idea is you can't inflict a fatal wound. Nobody could just grab one out of the kitchen drawer and kill someone. Really? Couldn't you go all Jack the Ripper on someone's throat with it? At any rate, if your wife or husband decides to replace your current knives with these anti-stab versions, that really says something about how they feel about you. Either they have the wrong impression, or they are on to you.

Sorry, Mr. Cornock but your vision of a weapon-free kitchen is both laughable and unsafe in case of attack by an intruder, etc. And before the usual rebuttals from the spork lobby, I submit that statistics prove sporks are too prone to accidental discharge to be safely kept in a kitchen.

15 years ago they all scoffed at me when I first penned "27 Ways To Kill With a Dry Popsicle Stick". But who's got the last laugh now, eh? As long as there are popsicles in the fridge and enough time to eat them and dry the sticks - nobody will be defenseless if I have anything to say about it.

By the way, the newest edition has an additional chapter: "Splinters - The Invisible Justice". Available wherever finer books are sold.

CHINA, +- 5000 YEARS AGO, IMPERIAL EDICT NEWSFLASH / BULLETIN (found on scroll) "NEW SAFETY LAW:Xhing province: Due to the increase of violent stabbings occurring at mealtimes over food (or lack thereof) our illustrious Emperor has decreed that the general populace shall from this day forth eat with sticks! IRO (Imperial Research Office) survey done Year of the rat 2991BC, has shown that meal related stabbing fatalities were significantly reduced when no sharp cutting edges lay close at hand. Any of the populace found not complying with this decree shall be duly punished by the Emperors royal guard by being stabbed to death in public with a sharp stabbing edge." Seems this all started a long time ago, regards to all, Leon

You mean they couldn't figure out a way to sharpen the chop sticks to a point. Or were they that poorly fed that they didn't have the energy.

That was close...I am currently working on my new knife, the anti "HACKING" cleaver. She is due to me first marketed in Asia this fall. I heard that golf "clubs" were going to be politically renamed to a small object ball strikers or SOB's. I guess I can take the baseball bat out of my kitchen now!
