What's Next? Cars Powered by Cow Urine

Posted August 07, 2009 3:00 AM by CarDomain

Researchers at Ohio University are working on technology to extract hydrogen from urine, a process that only requires only a quarter of the energy needed to extract it from water. Using a nickel-based electrode, the scientists claim they can create cheap hydrogen from urine that could be used in fuel cells to power cars, houses and other appliances.

And when he gets a flat tire his wife has to sit on the opposite corner of the car.

What I see is company poking fun to sell news. Possibly maintain the oil industries hold on our need for oil. The research if viable would help in reducing our need for oil. As human waste could be a source for the hydrogen.

So like this article the mans back seat will be full of it if he don't get the bull out of there.

Human excrement has been collected for thousands of years by the Chinese to be used as fertilizer on crops. They still do, but means have been developed to collect animal waste on farms and ranches, not by hand, but mechanically. Digesters are in use on some farms to generate methane gas from cow manure. There is a lot of manure around that can be put to good use and not just on this forum. Seriously though, I'm glad animal waste can help to solve our energy needs.

And when the cows urine runs out a second connection could be made for the methane from the cows flatulence. That would help reduce GW.

Pilots are taught that, in an emergency situation and there are no other signals such as smoke to determine wind direction, cows turn their hind quarters into the wind, for some reason, and that this can be used as an emergency wind direction indicator. Now, is that or what?

Anyway, the thing is that there's no provision for the cow to turn round the other way in that convertible, so there's the first fundamental design flaw.

Anyone for drawing boards?

Give a man a tank of gas and he can drive his cow for a couple hundred miles.

Teach a man how to create hydrogen from his cow's piss and he can drive his cow forever!

Does this mean we are going to have to change our ways of expressing power output, using 'cow power' rather than referring to 'horse power'....... Or haven't they tried this experiment using horses yet ?

Does it have to be a cow?

If they could put small fuel cell motors in the wheels, my dog could probably get my whole neighborhood to work every morning.
