Given the topicality here's a shot: A total eclipse of Pluto by Charon?

Annular eclipse. For instance, if the moon is near apogee, it subtends a smaller arc that does not quite cover the sun.

Whatever it is, I bet it still constitutes an eclipse, maybe involving different bodies than earth, moon, and sun. Sure, it could be a Kirlian photograph of Charlie Brown's head, but I don't think so.

its a cool pic. the probe is past Pluto now, looking back at the planet it took this shot. the sun is behind the planet, the halo is actually Pluto's atmosphere being lit up in appearance by the ice in its atmosphere. so unlike an eclipse nothing is actually blocking your view. because the sun is basically behind the planet it looks very dark, the dark shades are almost black but scattered light is there

Pluto is blocking the view of the sun. By definition, this is an eclipse.

sort of but usually an eclipse happens at a very specific time for a fixed duration of time then fades away and a "normal condition" returns until the next eclipse. in this case this is what it looks like constantly from the perspective of the probe. its an interesting shot thats why I posted it

Sorry but your wrong here. The definition of an eclipse is "an astronomical event that occurs when an astronomical object is temporarily obscured, either by passing into the shadow of another body or by having another body pass between it and the viewer. An eclipse is a type of syzygy.[1]" [From the Wikipedia link.] In this case this is an antumbral eclipse by Pluto of the Sun as viewed by the New Horizons deep space probe.

Exactly: WRT the spacecraft, Pluto is eclipsing the sun.
