Dripless Wine Bottle

03/23/2017 1:18 PM

Reading this article from Brandeis University makes me wonder why no one, in the history of the wine bottle, has thought of this. Probably works for traditional cork-stoppered (or fake-cork-stoppered) bottles but perhaps not for twist-off tops.

Truly a groovy solution. Why not engineer that into a twist top? No one says the threads have to start at the top of the bottle...

The problem is pouring it into a glass rather than drinking it from the bottle...

who does that anyway? ....decanting into a fine crystal wine glass.

If we don't drink from bottle, wifey has tumblers that work as well for getting a dose of it.

Of course; that's what tongues are for, to lick droplets off of bottle necks.

Or it could be to lick the honey off your honey's neck....sorry for the horrible reference to intimacy.

Great idea, they just need a beer bottle cap and do away with the cork all together.

So if I am a liberal democrat it's true and I need to buy stock now?

But where do I get the money to buy such stock being I have squandered all of mine and anyone else who will deal with me sueing everyone who has proven themselves smarter than I am to force them to not be smarter than I am.

Guess I'll just have to burn my house down to make a point about my superior intelligence and reasoning abilities(and how I am so for protecting the environment) now so I can use the insurance money to buy that stock!

BTW, it’s been thought of before, champagne bottles have the same recess below the lip of the bottle.

Simply place a straw or a swizzle stick or even a knife against the mouth and let the wine follow the straw into the glass. When you're done straighten the wine bottle back up and NO DRIPS.

I've used this trick for years.

Japanese soy sauce maker Kikkoman long ago perfected the no-drip lip.

It's so perfect you can pour out a single drop and it never goes where you don't want it to go.

I guess I'm just not pretentious enough to care if the bottle drips. That and if I buy wine it most often comes in a box with a pop out spigot that doesn't drip.

Hell, If want really good wine by my standards I just mix welch's juices with everclear and get the flavor plus the alcohol to my liking done with no fuss at all!

Maybe even run it through the Sodastream carbonator once to put some real kick in it too!

OMG - Boone's Farm, Mogen-David, and Manischewitz all rolled into something less.

I prefer Casa Diablo, Carmenere that is an exceptionally good table wine in the deep red, that is in the middle price range, so the price point is right where a Chilean wine should be to make a dent in American wine consumption habits.
