Re: Suicidal Robot?

The article says that "Robbie" was rescued. Is he going to a mental health facility for the "botched" suicide attempt?

When a robot commits sepuku is it a cardinal sin? If they intentionally ingest large volumes of water to the circuit boards, is that also a sin?

Is there self-awareness?

Is there awareness of the steps leading into the fountain? Was there robot safety training prior to release to job duties?

No, he will start over with no memory of his former AI life, other than a subroutine that makes him phobic of stairs into a fountain, and water in general.

Yes, but Robbie is not (yet) equipped with toilet plunger. I always felt Daleks to be ridiculous, but there again I am The Doctor around these parts.

Re: Suicidal Robot?

In the new revival, they've done some things to make Daleks scary again:

---

Guard: "What are you going to do with that, plunge me to death?"

Dalek: *Jabs 'plunger' up at guard's face, plunger head 'morphs' to provide perfect seal around the guards face as the Dalek suctions the guard's lungs out of his body(1)*

---

Teenager: "Oi! Look at the helpless pepperpot! Can't get us up here, guess you never heard of stairs before!"

Dalek: "EL-E-VATE!" *Dalek levitates up to the upper landing, fliying over the guard rail to pursue the teenagers.* (Note: the Dalek does NOT follow the path of the stairs, but rises through the central open space of the stairwell.)

---

And yes, Daleks still have the same vocal range they had in the past, from shouting all the way to screaming at the limits of their electronic voice modulators. Some day they'll learn there are more punctuation marks than just the exclamation point, and that there is a whole SET of lower-case letters they've never used.

Notes:

  1. That's what I guess happened, the edges of the 'plunger head' were rippling like the foot of a Sea Cucumber, and the guard's face was all red where it was under the plunger, so 'tearing his lungs out' seems to fit for how excruciatingly painful it looked on screen.

Let's be civil here, what one or more people do in the privacy of a bedroom is just between them and the ostrich.

(Heh, heh, now to see how bizarre everyone gets trying to work out what the ostrich is doing there...)

Suicidal, or Homicidal?

Or possibly just bat-guano insane: "My job is to save human lives. I perform my job by taking human lives. I kill humans to protect humans. I protect humans by killing humans. To protect I must die. Death is my only purpose in life. I kill to protect, I protect by killing ... Death is my purpose ... I must kill those I protect."

No. Those white-haired ones are the ones that make it to the finish line.

Now, the platinum-blonde ones, those are the homicidal ones, especially with blue eyes (cameras).

There is an, as yet, unconfirmed report that (Robbie)

had become despondent with (his/her/it's) purpose in (life),

burst-tweeted that there had to be more than just a single (Mall),

and was running away to join the Circus, but

quickly fell (out of his element ?)...

Alas, poor (Robbie), farewell, for we hardly knew ya...

Now, get outta my way! I know there'e another sale in here somewhere...
