Yahoo Messenger hates my cursor

I can open my Yahoo Messenger, but it shuts immediately the cursor moves in to the window - yesterday it was ok, today not ok.

I have uninstalled and re-downloaded, no difference.

The window opens with two boxes pre-checked - Automatic signin and automatic name and password.

Move the cursor into the window and pouff, gone.

Depending on how many times I try, I can have 10 or more happy smiling faces leering at me in the system tray - move the cursor into the window to open a conversation and they then evaporate quickly, one by one.

What cooks with this cookie - how do In fix this bizarre behaviour?

Howdy Vulcan,

Nothing else is sneezing or wheezing, so if it is a virus, howcome only Yahoo Messenger is so affected?

Windoze Messenger seems to be quite ok, as is Yahoo emails etc.

Could I have a YSM specific virus in my cursor?

I had a similar issue with trillian. It would be fine until I tried to click on something or someone would message me, and then it would just freeze. I was running WindowBlinds and WindowFX, and just added an exclusion to trillian. Are you running any programs like these?

No.

I managed to fix it through msconfig, but after one session, the fault returned.

I get sometimes the message "breakpoint has been reached (0x80000003) @ 0x07cbc2bf", which I would assume was a subroutine address at memory location (0x07....).

Seems maybe Yahoo Messenger has a repetitive program failure.

I will pass this information on to Yahoo when they reply to my Help email, as per suggestion above.
