What do you think a diode is?

Ask a more specific question and we will probably be more helpfull, this sound like you just want us to do your home work for you with no effort on your part...

I'll help a little..

A common diode is a semi conductor device which will conduct current in one direction but not the other.... there are other special types.

The circuit diagram is a skull and crossbones (no it isn't ....you should be able to find that yourself...)

Try typing 'diode' into wikpedia

A diode is a maxwells demon for the bar at the electron cafe, unless you get over the entry potential, you do not get in. Once in, you do not get out.

Diodes -- SCR etc etc ??? -- for your homework assignment you need to do some research - research = education.

Ask others for your answer and you learn poorly.

An old diode can be a piece of glass with a piece of nothing inside and two metal things, either of them is heated. A newer one also can be a smaller piece of glass or ceramics, or metal, with two(di...) wires...

A diode can be a lump of coal and a fine wire just touching it....

Something like a cat's whisker??

At first learn the magic word P L E A S E and then google, please.
Sounds as if you only copied your examination text to let others do your work.

I was honest above, and said my answer was off-topic, but my answer was "hidden".

There are several alternative answers:

1. It is a lady named Diana, who previously lent some money to a friend. That's why she is Di Owed.

2. A Welshman named David, previously lent some money to a friend. That's why he is Dai Owed.

No doubt you can think of others
