Hints? Wow!

The best thing is to adopt a Mentor with significant experience in these things locally. Kit of this size is of some value and its care should be entrusted to competent persons. There are warranty and liability issues to consider, and whoever breaks it is going to have to fix it fast! So the recommendation is to transfer the risk to them, and use them to contribute organically to one's own knowledge and experience.

We see Guests like you about every half an hour, we know them mostly by the following or siilar:-

1) logged in only as Guest, so they never know if anyone replies or not to their question without logging on and looking

2) Have NO KNOWLEDGE of the subject they want to know EVERYTHING ABOUT!

3) Are probably willing to try out any stupid idea we gave you, so making themselves prime Candidates for the Darwin Award Scheme. (Please look at URL for fuller details)

http://darwinawards.com/

I would not care so much, but you might take some innocent people with you!!

4) Subject is usually something that in the wrong hands (your hands I mean!) could prove HIGHLY DANGEROUS and is always EXCEEDINGLY EXPENSIVE!!

5) A background of anything slightly relating to this question would have demonstrated to any person with a slight grasp of the technicalities that he cannot learn much on a Blog that will help him (except maybe to enable him to commit suicide in some spectacular manner!!)

You are the most perfect example of this type of person that I have seen in the last 300 seconds or so on CR4.....!

Have a great day!

Re: Gas Turbine Tips

I am sure the "Guest" is looking for hints/directions/references/addresses/referrals for "competent" technical engineering support (consulting, application etc.) companies rather than a fully-comprehensive set of directions on how to commission a generating station which by the way, is a task that would most likely be impossible for any single individual (engineer or not) to accomplish.

Actually it is a very wise and cost effective idea to get experienced "guru" input and referrals on the subject to avoid getting stuck with an incompetent, "poor quality" or "un-safe" fly-by-night engineering group that will more than double commissioning costs in the long-run.

After all, if you can't get quality, competent answers from the experienced "experts", who are you going to get the answers from?

Re: Gas Turbine Tips

A lot of what you wrote makes good sense and I believe to be fully accurate. You have a good grasp of the real world situation.

But having got my fingers a little bit dirty working on several types of Steam & Gas Turbines in the RN many years ago, but not being any sort of "expert" at all, but I know enough to know that you cannot expect any vast amounts (as was asked for!) of useful information from a blog, no matter how good or competent the people are. It would fill several books what he has asked for.....if done correctly.....even as "hints"..

Small important details yes, we can usually help, clear a point up or two etc....no problem...

My take is different, I do not think he has a clue and he wants to impress somebody for some reason with a few "catch phrases" (I have worked with people from India and Pakistan many times, most are really good Engineers, in fact top quality, but there are some who have never gone to school (Uni or advanced education), never got a top Engineering qualification, but try and get into such positions, basically with "Trickery", and this smells like one of those at least up to now, sorry to be so blunt!)...

If that is not the case, and you are right, then he should completely rewrite his question, showing that he has the needed background and just asking about the points he needs to know about, not the much too general question he has posed up to now....which to me just demonstrates to me his incompetence in this area....

I know I am a sceptic, but you and many others are "just far too nice". I feel that you encourage them and make the situations worse (completely unintentionally on your part I do realise) and possibly more dangerous for him and all concerned if he gets some position of technical importance and screws up big time, God forbid!

Rant over (my apologies especially if you got the feeling I am getting at you personally, that was not my intention).

We need people like yourself with your knowledge and expertise, but we do not want to see you "misused" in anyway shape or form either....and I wish you a great day......

Hello Andy,

No need to apologize. I do so understand what you are refering to. I have been arround for quite awhile but I still have difficulting deciding if the person posing the question(s) are struggling and/or failing with translation into English or living the scenario you present. I wish there was an easy way to discern the difference as it would allow me to exert my efforts in a much more effective and timely manner.

Have a great week and keep smiling!

You have posted exceedingly well, many thanks as I perceive yours and other such posts as supporting me.

We on CR4 must be careful as to who and how we help, so as not to make any problems worse for the original poster or to enable him to hoodwink others.....we have a difficult job and a knife edge to walk on.....thank God most of your are more than equal to the task.

I am an optimist in all things, except where safety is concerned. Then I see the worse case scenario...

My apologies to Guest. Andy Germany is one of those people who have a comment for almost everything whether he knows anything or not. He apparently has nothing to do but comment on everything posted and if he knows nothing he posts an indignant, insulting tirade. He loves to belittle others who he thinks are inferior.

Again to Guest, I apologise, and I'm sure that goes for the majority of the people on this forum.

Now that is funny, a guest apologizing to a guest (probably himself!!) for me !!!!

Best joke of the year!!! Recursive "guesting"? Talking to themselves......!!

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Hilarious, it has made my day completely!! many thanks.

If only you realized how silly you guests can get, you would not do such things.....

You should stand up and be recognized and get full membership of CR4 - it costs nothing!!!!

Watch out what you say about Andy Germany or any registered member of CR4.

Each resistered member are aware of each other.

You are basically a chicken that is why you come in as "guest" to hide your identity.

Be a man and come out as a man. Resister yourself first and have the balls to come in.

The same thing goes to the 1st guest if you are not him.

He is definitely missing a couple of important items that you mentioned......

It gave me a good laugh anyway, so it was not really a problem for me, or yourself.

Thanks for the support.

Dear Guest,

Hints on gas turbine plant, to the extent you have mentioned, is a VERY VERY VAST subject & no individual or a small group of individuals will be able to advice you on this. Thus please be specific as to what you are really wanting to know. This will help you in getting the right answer to your question. Furthermmore to get best of the information please "expose" yourself with your name etc.

As an Indian, if you are, trust you would have had a great Diwali.

With good wishes & kind regards

Ashok Toshniwal

Dear Ducon

I like when you say that you donot hate guests. Personally even I donot hate but at the same time donot understand as to why people post questions, anonymously. As regards questions like auto rickshaw etc., I just ignore them, though maybe somebody is curious enough to know.

To me a straight direct question will generate better response, then the one which is not.

Thanks

Re: Gas Turbine Tips

Well, Andy, you have a point.

It was an awfully broad series of questions.

What Gas Turbine is the Guest asking about?

What nation is the installation occuring in? Frankly, am I to assume it is a Natural Gas Turbine?

You make some strong points as far as who might have the motive to ask such questions as a Guest.

Possibly there ought to be a category for ignorant politician, or well dressed professional liar.

Damn I really need to go buy some clothes.

To return to the original topic and get to any generally useful information, I myself suggest that the Guest be more specific in their questions. - and it is not as if I haven't asked some weird questions, but at least I was specific, and so far am reduced to pledging that in my new universe, light will move faster than it does in this one.
