Green Washing Your Brain

10/21/2021 5:03 AM

With all this green energy promotion and brain washing that we need more solar and wind power to save the world, what to you does the following mean:

Carbon foot print

Carbon neutral

Climate emergency

Catch phrases that sound lovely but what do actually understand of these phrases from your perspective?

Think in terms of personal money:

  • It's about living within one's income, and about not using one's savings account; i.e. the planet's income, and not its savings account. Income is akin to sunlight. Savings are akin to fossil fuel reserves.

That's it.

Good analogy,… unfortunately the largest ‘spokespeople’ for green energy are making money off of that ‘thought’, while retaining a huge carbon footprint themselves.

Some are even being reenforced their actions by bestowing onto them a Nobel prize for their work of ‘do as I say, not as I do’.

Responding through personal action and leadership is a great thing.

Apportioning blame is something not at all useful in Engineering circles. It usually falls within the domain of the legal profession, which earns its income out of others' misery.

Apportioning blame?,… no, just look at the history, where a lot of green brain washing victims fails to not only admit, but recognize, and if they do, won’t admit.

Rephrase the question. What is your actual understanding of these catch phrases?

Do you know what a carbon foot print is, or what carbon neutral means or what the climate emergency actually is?

You hear this daily on news broadcasts. Catchy phrases that cause you alarm, they are on everyone's lips these days. What do you understand they mean?

You leave a carbon footprint when your feet are really dirty....

Carbon neutral is the soap what cleans 'em...

Climate emergency is when a hurricane or tornado hits, or when it rains till it floods...

I loved Bills early routines.. a friend of mine had his album,… never thought much of listening to a comedian on a LP, and we listened to it, and it was Hilarious.

I had bought Steve Martins LP for my brother Christmas present.

I hope I didn’t offend anyone… but I know have.

I'll pile on so you'll have company. I remember the family listening to his albums back then. I was a pre-teen at the time but old enough to appreciate the humor. I suspect that even though his behaviors at times would not pass muster these days, but back then, it probably wasn't out of line in his circles that he ran. His fatal mistake was to not embrace the 'woke' culture that would have protected him instead of vilifying him. If you even hint of conservative values in Hollywood, you will have a bull's-eye painted on your back. And look at what the son of a prominent politician can get away with these days.

Of him making the sound effects of people walking up the stairs… you could visualize that even as a 14 year old… it was hilarious… we were laughing so hard… we couldn’t stop laughing,… when all of the sudden we were at the end of the album…

Speaking about not passing muster,.. well, can you imagine Mel Brooks today…

Carbon foot print: The total net negative impact you have on the planets ecosystem.

Carbon neutral: Made up gimmicky sales word for the consumption of the uninformed (similar to shiny, dramatic, lifechanging, or dirty).

Climate emergency: Your situation when broadcasting a sporting event live and a "Let's go Brandon" chant breaks out from the crowd.

I didn’t verify these,… but in Canada if any reference that close to ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ appears on any official corespondent by a government worker in Canada is cause for immediate dismissal.

But they (Canada) since denied they will be fired…

and then declared it is fake… but the damage is done…

<...no one has any idea what that jargon means....>

It may be something else: no-one knows how to EXPRESS what the <...jargon means...> in the context of this thread; or it may be that COHERENCE of expression is the problem, and not the <...jargon...> itself.

A guy I went to high school had that that same car, as well as color. Only he had a racing stripe… can’t Racall if it was front to back or the stripe was wrapped around the truck…

two other classmates had a ‘73 Plymouth road runner (canary yellow) and the other a ‘68 GTO.

both destroyed they cars, by trying to modifying it… themselves.

me, I had a ‘47 Chevrolet deluxe (three on the column)… it was my grandma’s car, then my older sisters first car, them my older brothers first car,… them my second older brothers first car…then my first car,,… but I never felt that was my first car, because I had to always ask my brothers permission to drive in… that’s why I always considered my first car was a 1970 Chevy Nova.

Writing accuracy seems important to you. Thinking what you think seems to be as well.

I oftentimes see brevity and a certain casualness in writing form on this and other forums.

I have also personally found it useful (especially as I get older) to attempt to discern the humor in a collision between a serious subject, and those who may not be entirely convinced of its gravity.

For those two reasons, among others, I like forums.

But of course, I don't think like you.

Re: Green Washing Your Brain

10/26/2021 2:19 AM

Lyn reminds me of a fellow I knew who I’ll call Jeff… who were friends of my sisters. And was a little older then me.

a little back story,

my sister worked with the guys wife who I’ll call Sandy while Jeff was in trucking and I would see them and have a nice talk.

we were at a snowmobile dance about 25-30 years ago… this couple couple was there along with their 16 year old daughter. Snowmobile dance was a family affair. She was in 4H in the horse project, I started talking with her, and she was a very nice articulate girl. We talked about horses, and experiences we had in 4H, she was quite intellectually mature for her age. She mentioned out of the blue she was diabetic. This interest me, and I asked about it… we talked for 45 minutes to an hour. Didn’t seem that long.

Anyways, I saw her mom Sandy, and I excused myself because I wanted to talk to her mom. As I was talking, her husband interjected himself into the conversation all in a twist, saying he has to talk to their daughter, when sandy asked why, his response was because she spend all night talking to old man… well I didn’t know who he was talking about, because I was the only one talking to… then I realize it was me… Sandy rolled her eyes and said, “oh really, Jeff. She just enjoying herself.”

I never forgot that.

well, this past summer, I was visiting my sister, and she asked what I was up to,… told her I was going to the Antique Fram Equipment Thresheree. She asked if she cou,d tag along.

well, who did we run into but Jeff and Sandy at separate times, Sandy manned behind the snack bar,… and Jeff was at the grounds, Jeff had rebuilt a old Doctors horse drawn Buggy, and he showed it to us….talked for about 45 minutes and we went about our way.

on the way home we talked about Jeff, and I mention the incident about 30 years ago, when I talked to his daughter, my sister looked shocked and said interesting.

I asked why she said that, and she mentioned that Jeff, was caught for child trafficking, how disgusting. And his wife stuck with him… my sister was only talking to him for his wife Sandy… which is about to leave.

Now with the high and almighty Lyn comments, of ‘your humanity is ZERO! Your humility is non-existent.’ Among his deleted comments, Lyn reminded me of Jeff the child trafficker.

Now I want to make clear, I, by no means labeling Lyn as a child trafficker, only his behavior is similar to one.

With my point being is, Beware of these people who inject themselves just to preach down to others…

IQ, you really should have posted this in the Break Room, you should have known this topic brings out the day walkers.

It brought out the banter in some and pissed some off. By the time we annihilate all the wild life that produced CO2 and wipe out all the cattle and sheep producing CO2 and pay for our own CO2 production, you will be glad you had the chance to spout your wisdom here.

The day walkers will be happy to have a fresh kill to feast on.

One more thing, why do Americans have trouble pronouncing Glasgow? It is not Glass Cow! Try Glass Go! If they arrive in Glascow this week it will be a pointless meeting, and god knows what nonsense they will decide and fob off to the brain washed when they realize they are in the wrong city and country.

as far as the pronunciation of Glasgow…we’ll, we don’t have have enough Scottish in us,… or is that Skotch?…

Lol… I’m an equal opportunist…

is it true… Jameson uses Jameson bourbon barrels, sherry butts, and port pipes. To make their whiskey…

Where Jack Danials barrels doesn’t.

did I just start an international incident?

"did I just start an international incident?" Why not, you deserve to have at least one.

What was interesting, I knew that illegal drugs were invading Northeast Wisconsin via Milwaukee, (past 20-30 years) but I didn’t realize that child trafficking was so prevalent and established. And someone that I knew… even though I had always felt uncomfortable about him,… turn out to be a reason.

probably why I get standoffish at times, at least I like to think so.

Your original post was justifiably deleted. In a way, that is unfortunate, because it was a perfect window into the depths of your very soul.

You seem to have a split personality with both being the same. How sad.

Good Morning All!

I am going to weigh in on this to say the everything is based on interpretation. All the news media love the buzz words that get people talking, and those buzz words do work! For the record I drive an EV

I am on the research for yourself team. I get the whole carbon footprint idea of trying to control the greenhouse effect. The problem as I see it is that when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, each of the extreme sized one of them would give the same carbon footprint as 4 of todays gasoline automobiles per week. My $50 a month home charging is equal to a dinosaur a week roughly.

Carbon Neutral is just the buzz word to get you rolling. In my opinion there is no way to become carbon neutral. It simply is not possible. I drive a Chevy Bolt EV and my only purpose for driving it is the fuel savings I get personally. In the 6 months I have owned it I have driven 15000 miles and saved approximately $250 a month in fuel costs. I am well aware of the coal fired plant that provides me the electricity for my car and the amount and size of it's carbon footprint, I also live in a total electric home powered by this same plant. Thus no neutrality.

I feel like this climate emergency that those that think they are the green army are talking about, is no worse than history has provided us with from the dinosaur age. Eventually we are going to have a giant freeze or the polar icecaps are going to melt. the climate will correct itself again and life will move on. It has happened before and will happen again.

I may hit the mark with this and then again I may have missed it by a mile but the one thing I am certain of, green or not the higher fuel prices get the more I will have saved when it is all said and done. That's why I love my EV!
