Re: Engineering poll

05/15/2008 1:44 PM

This points up the one of the troubles with polls. Most of these questions can't be answered (by me) by the answer choices you have given. I will, therefore, give you the shortest answers I can.

1) The acronym UFO means Unidentified Flying Object. There are a number of things in the sky that can easily fit those criteria; mostly because of limited knowledge base, being to far away to see clearly etc. I personally believe they fall into several different categories. I hold open the idea that some could be extra-terrestrial in nature, some secret government testing, some artifacts of light on atmosphere, some tricks of perception.

2) Evolution is an as yet unproven theory. Is it the best possible explanation of the available facts? I, personally, don't think so. Is it bunk? I think that most people that adhere to the concept believe it is right, making it, therefore more of a religion than science.

3) Global Warming – see above

4) Over unity power – I think there are several forms of, as yet, undetected and/or misunderstood sources of energy. Many of these devices (over-unity machines) rely on existing energy sources: magnetics for example. Yet there are sources of 'free' power. The sun shines down on us every day, causing the wind to blow and the water to flow.

5) Big bang – See #2 above

6) Best beer – since I get an allergic reaction to it I'd have to say No such thing.

7) Politics – I am conservative by nature but try to be open minded to the liberal point of view.

Yes, I'm sorry I had to lump the English in with the Europeans - I was schooled in Texas so I don't know enough countries to list them all by name.

Re: Engineering Polls

It'll be interesting to see if there's a strong co-relation between the different areas.

The standard stereotypes would link belief in UFO's (driven by aliens), Creationism, natural cycle G.W., Steady state cosmology and Over unity machines with conservatism, with the opposite views being held by liberals.

If it's true, does it mean that conservatives have a deep seated mistrust of the "powers that be" or is it that liberals just believe anything they're told by the same PTB.

1-b, 2-a, 3-a&b, 4-d, 5-a, 6-d (although further research is needed), 7-a&b

Re: Engineering Polls

So what is it you are looking for, guidance as to how you should think, which side of the fence you should stand on? Not trying to be stand-offish, just asking.

Untill all of the facts are in, opinions aren't worth much, now are they?; except to offer an opportunity for some self-impressed individuals to pretend they have done all of the research, and know more than all of the experts whom are actually performing the research that still haven't arrived at any solid answer. If they had, no need for an opinion, as the facts would loudly speak for themselves.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

Great weekend to all !!!

May you live each day realizing you could be dead tomorrow, so you don't miss out on living when opportunity allows.

Re: Engineering Polls

1) Any flying object that you don't know what it is, is a UFO. If it's a type of airplane you didn't know existed, it's a UFO to you. Many natural phenomena, and a few man-made ones, are often mistaken for alien spacecraft. My meteorology textbook says that lenticular clouds are often mistaken for UFO's.

2) b - We've seen species adapt and change, but we've never seen any species evolve from one into another. Each living being recreates after its own kind.

3) Not sure on this one. I am sure that man is not causing global warming, but we might be seeing urban warming. Most of the thermometers used for official readings are located in urban areas. This could be introducing a bias into the raw data that is not being accounted for.

4) d - Get real if you believe in this. You could put together a system that might appear to produce over-unity gain, but eventually, it will wear out due to losses due to friction.

5) I am an oddball in that I am an old-earth creationist. I won't go into details here, but I will say that the Big Bang seems consistent with Gen. 1:1.

6) IBC Root Beer from International Brewing Company in St. Louis MO.

7) People would classify me as a conservative, but I consider myself to a Constitutional Preambulist. The US Constitution should be interpreted by the clauses of its Preamble.

8) What about naving rutters?

To all my fellow Americans on CR4 and elsewhere, enjoy the Memorial Day weekend, enjoy your freedoms as Americans, and remember those who fought and worked for those freedoms. To everyone else, have a great weekend.
