Bugs in Computer Monitors are now a World-wide Problem

07/15/2008 6:23 AM

Hello all,

I do appear to have a small bug in my new 19 inch LCD Monitor.

Research shows that these are more common than most people realise, and may Monitor users have never even noticed they have a small bug, or two inside their Monitor.

It seems that some older factories were infested with these small bugs, and in spite of earnest efforts to eliminate them by pest exterminators, many escaped by getting inside tiny orifices of Monitors waiting to be shipped.

The newer LCD factories also appear to have regular infestations of these tiny ants.

The species structure is shown here:

Thought it best to advise you these small critters are about, in more than one make of Monitor.

Kind Regards....

Many years ago (22 actually) I was assigned to a construction job in the jungle in Mexico. I was really proud that I was able to bring my new Compaq portable computer. This machine was about the size and weight of a sewing machine, and had a large green cathode tube screen. It was portable, but it was about like hauling around a TV.

At any rate one day I came into my trailer office and I noticed a trail of ants going into my computer. I popped open the cover and the ants had built a nest right in the middle of the mother board.

I succeed in cleaning them out, and that computer worked fine for a few years afterwards... but ants seem to like electronics...

Compaq portable computer

I've seen these compacts, Todays Desktop is about the size of them and lighter, I thought they were amazing at the time and envious of the people who owned them.

Now I say Hhaaa.

Run DDT.exe but the long term effects on the health of computer users is still under investigation

But really it seems that these critters are atracted to the electric field given off by electrical appliances, like moths are atracted to flame(light)

Hello Kwetz

They cannot easily get into solid concrete Posts, unless they arrive before that concrete sets.

Enjoy the day.

Kind Regards....

Sparky,

Looks like you and KY need to get together. He might have the answer to your ant problem.

Whilst putting myself through school, I had a job working for the local cable tv company testing and repairing those little converter boxes. The workload was too great to do it all in-house so we started shipping the units to Mexico for repair. They started coming back full of cockroaches. We had to fumigate the facilities regularly after that. I know we were putting these little cockroach "mobile homes" in hundreds of peoples houses. I do not know why they liked electronics so much.

Hello babybear

Have you seen any in your monitor?

Some folks have seen the occasional trapped fly, I note.

Kind Regards....

Hello Sparkstation:

No, not real animals. The reason I looked at this post is because a friends Monitor works when it wants to. Thought you were talking that kind of bug.

Stay safe,

babybear

Peripatetic little sob's ain't they? I suggest aardvark.exe as a possible solution...

...probably safer than ddt.exe in the long run, but ya do have to keep 'em fed!
