You stated rock band, so here goes. Because of the length of time, faithfulness to the rock music and the world wide audience, My vote is for the Stones.

How about the one group that did everything from soft to hard rock, took various influences, and then influenced so many other bands. They became bigger after they split up, for each member was a celebrity in his own right. Even with 2 members passed away, they still dominate. The Beatles.

I have recently become aquainted with the stylings of Hoobastank. I don't know that they can be considered the best band of all time but in my opinion, they have the coolest name ever. I just love saying "Hoobastank".

For that song, I will forever be grateful. My LP was playing that side for my daughter to listen to the drum solo. It stayed on after she went to bed. The next time we looked the record had been repeating for over a week and had warped so bad that it was now 3 inches tall. Thank goodness a friend gave me a CD to replace it.

Without a doubt, in my mind anyways, and for more reasons then you can shake a stick at, Pink Floyd stands pretty much on top.

I agree.

Talking about the sun they wrote "racing around to come up behind you again" or "us and them".

Their music was great AND they wrote lyrics that were elevating instead of the "WALK THIS WAY" being screamed.

The Beatles #1, Floyd, Led Zep, AC DC

The Stones are the most overrated band ever, but I love them.

What's the best American band? Perhaps Aerosmith?

Four people singing and playing are hardly a "band", I don't care how good they are or how famous. As much as I love Steve Miller, his group is too small to qualify as a band. Ditto Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits. They are all fantastic but are not bands

Even eight players aren't really "a band" either and are considered by the music world as being an octet.

As big as they are the Moody Blues doesn't qualify either as a band doesn't have string instruments that are bowed. Theirs is an orchestra.

Within the loose confines of "Rock" and "Band" I would have to say that the ones I liked best were Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears.

If it's going to be based on the number of members I'd suggest John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, just about every rock musician has been a member at some time.

Hmm....hard answer here as there are many who are so good, and so far there are many good answers. Who stood the test of time with me? For more than thirty (30) years I have been a fan of Long Island's Blue Öyster Cult; who have maintained a presence nearly as enduring as that of the Rolling Stones. Second choice (today's choice really) is a band that I grew to admire over the last twenty (20) years; the Scorpions.

I'll stop typing before I change my mind. Fun thread!

Best Regards,

Ing. Robert Forbus

All of the above!

Except I'm not a really big Stones fan.

Creedance is timeless. Even young people now are into their music.

The Moody Blues....still very popular today, they flew in the face of the music of the era.

But These guys, if you like incredible guitar without all of the electonics are by far 3 of the best of our time. It may not be "rock" but it ROCKS!

The greatest ever : Frank Zappa (and the mothers of invention)

Beatles and Stones are/were good, but there wasn't much to choose in their glory days. Frank Zappa (+ band) was not only good, he was revolutionairy, he really played a fantastic guitar, a great composer, incredibly busy guy (made about 70 albums), and smart (listen to his interviews)

The day he died should be an international day for mourning.

So many great bands mentioned here!

(the Floyd, Skynyrd, ZZ Top...so many great one...)

But if y'all haven't seen it yet, and this question means anything to your soul, you MUST see martin Scorcese's latest masterpiece, 'Shione a Light', a documentary of the Rolling Stones.

While watching it I leaned over to my friend and said, "you know, calling yourself The Greatest Rock n' Roll Band in the World" seems pretty presumptuous until you've seen this!"

But it's a hard, hard question which I've spent hours debating and, another thing I've noticed is that the answer depends on one's mood and where one is in one's life..

ROCK ON!

QUEEN have this title for me, not just for their hits, but longevity and the best guitarist ever in Brian May. Their early albums were awesome for their day and still hold up 30 years on.

Am going to their concert in October and can't wait.

The Eagles 2nd (are were they a rock band?) and Beatles 3rd (although I didn't like some of their psychedelic stuff).

Without a doubt. Saw them in Melbourne in '84 and are still the best concert I've been to. When we left the entertainment hall everybody was quiet. Very eerie. First time I've ever seen concert goers speechless after a concert.

This leads to "Best Live Concert" and here's my offering:-

1. Boston - Stafford Bingley Hall c.1980

2. Heart - NEC c.1995

2. Van Halen (unfortunately with Sammy Hagar, not Dave Lee Roth, still electric, though) - NEC c.1998

Dates approximate 'cos my memory is failing due to extreme old age.

It's such a pity to give just one vote. But as it's supposed to do so I'll give my vote to the Beatles (for historical and quality reasons). I'd like to mention some other bands that have influenced me (as a music listener and an amateur musician) and I consider them very special: Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Doors, Smiths, Police. (I like, also, some other not very famous bands like Incognito, James Taylor Quartet and Corduroy in the Acid Jazz style which I'm fond of since 1990)... (Of course we speak about bands and not individual artists)...

The Dirty Mac. John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell, and Keith Richards.

OK so they were a one shot deal.

More seriously, I have spent the last few weeks with teenagers sitting around with guitars, singing. The teenagers, not me. And, it's never long before one starts to play (and then they all join in) a Beatles song. It blows me away every time.

I'm a HUGE fan of the Zep, Stones, Floyd, ZZ, Skynyrd, ALL of the above. But I don't hear these kids playing those songs. OK, I did hear Sweet Home Alabama once, but they played the intro and laughed at the novelty of it.

I'm telling you guys, all of these bands are going to last the ages, but not like the Beatles. That was something special.

Best Rock band ever!! Here I need to throw my two cents in.

I am passionate about this issue. How do you measure greatness? Most number 1 songs, most hits in general, most songs that weren't hits but were still really good songs, who influenced the most other musicians, who the musicians say most influenced them most? All of these are valid measures, but for me the best measure is the test of time. Is the music you thought was great when you were 20 still great at when you are 50?

There are lots of incredible bands to chose from. The Stones, The Who, The Police, ELO, the Moody Blues, U2, and the list goes on and on. For my money the Best, Greatest Rock band ever is and will always be the Beatles. The four lads from Liverpool.

As a band and as individuals they made and for the two living Beatles, still make great music. The Beatles are the greatest rock band ever.

Go listen to their music, it stands the test of time. For all the reasons you loved them when you grew up you will still love their music today. Listen to their albums, they didn't just have a hit on the A side and maybe another good song on the B side, all their songs could have been hits. It is amazing how well they wrote songs.

Yes, I am a Beatle fan and I will always be a Beatle fan. I loved their music then and I still love their music nearly 40 years later. It isn't only about they a really good Album called Sgt. Pepper, all their Albums are great and for me Abby Road is the best of them, but I could easily have picked the Let It Be Album or Revolver or Rubber Soul or yes, Sgt. Pepper.

Again, for my pick, it is and always will be the four lads from Liverpool, the BEATLES.

Re: ?? Best rock band ever ??

Depends on your definition of "Best" - largest number of records sold? Largest fan base? Greatest influence on others? Most recognizable songs? Tenure? Quality of musicianship?

There's no one correct answer.

You'd probably have to rank the Stones up there somewhere - even though they only get back together every five years to make another zillion-dollar tour.

Beatles for influence and getting the whole thing started, I suppose. I can't give them really high marks for musicianship -journeymen at best. (notwithstanding the songwriting talents of John and Paul).

As far as American bands, I can't really thingk of any that really stand out, except for the Beach Boys (not a favorite, but you can't ignore their influence and popularity). The others mentioned (Aerosmith, Skynrd, Santana, etc) are in the upper echelons, but the question remains - what have they done lately? Will their music still be played in 50 years? Have they pioneered new styles or broken new ground? Except for Carlos Santana, probably not that much. As far as I can tell, virtually every "southern" rock band sounds pretty much the same - Skynrd, .38 Special, Allman Bros, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, they all are very much alike. Not that that is bad, as I have records from all of them, but they all DO pretty much walk the same walk.

But here's my nomination:

1) They've been touring and making records for 40 years, and continue to do so.

2) At least a half dozen of their songs are classics, and several riffs are so recognizable that every beginning guitar player learns them.

3) They've sold well over 150 million units world wide.

4) Their individual musical talent is far superior to the standard level.

5) Their offshoots and "family tree" is almost as well known as they are.

6) They attract audiences from 15 to 60.

7) With one minor exception, they present a fairly respectable image - no rehabs, no arrests for attempted murder and the like.

8) They produce their own music - they are not 'packaged' and molded like so many other modern artists.

9) They evolve - styles change, genres mature, and they adapt to these changes.

10) They truly enjoy what they do, and every live appearance is viewed with responsibility (to give a good show to the fans) and appreciation (for their fans -they're among the most approachable of all bands ever.)

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you:

Deep Purple

Jon Lord

Ritchie Blackmore

Ian Paice

Ian Gillan

Roger Glover

Steve Morse

Don Airey

David Coverdale

Glenn Hughes

Joe Satriani

Tommy Bolin

Deep Purple? I think you've had a little to much "smoke on the water".

Eric Clapton, and any band he plays with. The man is a musical genius. His style changes to cross many musical genres. He's played rock, blues, country rock, jazz and pop. I even hear some of his stuff redone as elevator music.

I have read all of the comments with interest. Songs that have stood the test of time. The Beatles have the big edge here, but no new music for how long now? In my personal tastes some of their music was not "rock", in the way I perceive rock. *

Also this was not supposed to be a vote for My Favorite Band. For that I would enter Doors, Moody Blues, Heart, and many more.

* What do I know? I liked Walk Like an Egyptian.

As you may know, Mr. Goggle has never been to a rock concert. He may not even be a real person. But if he was, I'm sure those three "Top 10 lists" would be his!

I am a metal head and personally would have to go with Led Zeppelin, Metallica, or Black Sabbath (Ozzy). But if you go with the band that have had the most people see them in concert it would have to be Bon Jovi. They hold the record for it.

You have all missed the greatest rock band of all time - Genesis - more specifically, Genesis from 1970-1976. When Peter Gabriel was the vocalist & flautist, nothing comes close. See Genesis numbers: The Musical Box, One for the Vine, Stagnation, Fountain of Salmacis, 11th Earl of Mar, Dancing with the Moonlit Knight, Cinema Show and many more on YouTube, if you need convincing.

P.S. Make sure it's not a "tribute band." Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I also *love* 'early' Genesis, but I don't feel your comment is *entirely* fair.

Together with Genesis 'cracks' here, we've seen 4 shows put on by the legendary Genesis tribute band from Montreal, The Musical Box. During the 2nd to their last tour, Phil Collins joined them on stage in Geneva, and one of the other guys somewhere else (Germany or France, I forget). All of the orig Genesis members have basically said they play the music better than they did at the time (obviously they're not 'pioneering' it, but neither is an early-music ensemble when they play Bach...but that doesn't lessen either the achievement of Bach or their musicianship in recreating it..)

And I am very, very grateful because their tremendous energy & enthusiasm for Genesis at-the-time-of-Gabriel allowed me and thousands of others to experience the legendary 70's shows, including the astonishing Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, which for me and many others topped the Who's Tommy and Pink Floyd as THE art-rock group of all time..

With so many sub-genre's of rock, I think it's difficult to qualify one rock band over another. For example, you can't very well compare the musical stylings of the beatles to metallica. What is "best" is purely subjective.

That being said, I do put a high amount of respect on acts that have stayed true to thier style of playing and remained succesfull, despite not reinventing themselves. Would the beatles have remained as successful if every song they wrote was like "twist and shout"? Probaby not.

One must also consider if an act would be as popular if it werent for the antics of a member. Would the doors be as popular if Jim Morrison didnt expose himself everywhere? Again, I doubt it.

However, if we were to quantify what the greatest rock band is, we could look at worldwide record sales. In doing so, we see that Michael Jacksons "Thriller" is the greatest selling album of all time, however he is not a band, and his music only meets the loosest of definitions as rock.

That being said, AC/DC's "Back in Black" is the highest selling rock band album of all time (and a personal favorite of mine) world wide, with 42 million copies sold. To put that in compairison, the Beatles "Sgt Pepper..." album is thier best selling, at only 32 million. The Rolling Stones best (in the US) was The Hot Licks compliation, at 12 million.

If you want to see a great concert, youtube "AC DC Donington", or:

How many people can this race track accommodate for a concert? I don't think I've ever seen more people in one place at the same time.

Thank you Nigh for mentioning the Grateful Dead. If I was still a bead-sucking hippy that would be my choice, but it's quite a stretch these days. If you haven't seen them dozens of times you really can't know.

The easy and correct answer has to be between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

But, for their short stint in the limelight, I have to mention the Raspberries and Badfinger.

And, as I'm still picking the occasional bead from between my teeth, Jefferson Airplane/Hot Tuna!

Badfinger. Interesting to make mention of them. Did you know they are a product of the Beatles. I personally really enjoy their music. They were one of the first bands signed by the Beatles Apple label, as was James Taylor.

Re: ?? Best rock band ever ??

OK here's my vote and the reason for that vote:

First of all the term "greatest" has to be defined a little better. If this means commercial success, album sales, revenue from touring, there could be a lot of bands. Some of whom are front runners, then fall off a cliff and are not heard from again for 10 - 15 years. There were any number of "haircut bands" in the 1980's that can be named to fit into that shoe. One band I do not consider a haircut band would be Guns and Roses. They were real musicians, produced music that had a distinctive style, and to play at a rowdy concert and announce the next song "is in the key G flat" has got to worthy of some mention. It was Ozzie Osbourne who said that GNR "could have been the next Rolling Stones." Pretty big statement coming from that guy. But GNR, I am sorry to say does not get my vote. They were not around long enough, did not record enough original music, and have not done much since the split up.

The second nominee would be The Rolling Stones. I have seen them numerous times and it has been terrific every time. They started in the shadow of the Beatles, as the bad boys of rock-and-roll. Look at Kieth Richards, maybe the musical songwriter of the century, and still has time to get busted for drugs in about every country. Who would have thought Kieth Richards would outlive Peter Jennings? It is always great to hear "Sympathy for the Devil," which includes a history lesson that spans 2000 years, and a word at the end of the song that I had to look up in the dictionary. "Use all your well learned politesse, or I'll lay your soul to waste." How many of you can define the word politesse? When the Verve wrote the "Bitter Sweet Symphony" several years back, it was song of the year, huge sales, etc. they received no money for it. The money went to the Rolling Stones because Kieth Richards wrote the music. It was on a Stones live album from the 1960's. Talk about great song writing, 30 years later people love it enough the make it the song of the year.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience, could be mentioned but I think just mentioned. Again not around long enough and lack of original music. If you want to hear how "Hey Joe" sounds by the band that wrote it, go to you tube and look up "The Leaves, Hey Joe" if it was not for them there would be no Hendrix version. Jimi played a lot of covers.

Finally perhaps my favorite band would be the Led Zeppelin. How many bands before or since would the guitar player stand up there with a violin bow and make music. Jimmy Page was / is the real thing. He showed it is OK to play rock and roll with an electric mandolin. He also showed it is OK to be a real musician and play original hard rock. The Led Zeppelin elevated rock and roll to the levels unheard of at the time and probably will never be equalled as innovators. They did not release songs as singles just to make money like the Beatles did. It is still the best live show I have ever seen, no back up band, just 3 1/2 to 4 hours of music by the Led Zeppelin. Bands still play covers of their music. Listen to "Black Dog" when Robert Plant starts off acapella, not many people will attempt a cover of that, it takes too much talent. My only glitch is with "Bring It On Home." They knew they ripped off Wilie Dixon for that one but the thing still went to court. I heard they treated Willie Dixon's family quite well, so I guess I can let it slide. The next time you hear Herman's Hermits play "Mrs Brown you've got a lovely daughter" listen the style of the guy playing the only instrument on the song, it was a studio musician by the name of Jimmy Page. Now that takes real talent there too, not to VOMIT during that song. If nothing else that alone should get everyone's vote.

Goodho wrote: "OK here's my vote and the reason for that vote. . . "

I love music! It touches me in ways nothing else can. My response to good music is intensely visceral, that's how deep it goes.

I've long felt a bit saddened by the fact that popular vocalists get associated with songs they sing; that bands get associated with a piece they've played but the composers and lyricists who created it are rarely known.

Barbra Streisand gave a lot of exposure to her interpretation of selected cuts from the musical "Phantom of the Opera". My guess is that most who love her rendition of "All I ask" are clueless as to who wrote it (Andrew Lloyd Webber) even though he has instant name recognition.

Thanks Goodho, for pointing an appreciative light on those who create the music so performers can look good.

I agree with a lot of the previous comments but for a band still out there playing listen to Bonnie Raitt. She is the whole package. She's still writing good songs and still singing with a great voice.

In addition she is putting her own money out doing activism for quite qa few causes

How subjective can I get?

American - Grateful Dead. They were/are (depending on who's still with us) consummate musicians. Who else have you ever heard in concert that could or would dare to try to go off on a series of solo performances around an originating riff...and then 45 minutes and 7 soloists later, bring it all back around to the original riff, still on pitch, in tune and with the beat?!? That is NOT the drugs talking folks, that takes a musical intensity rarely achievable.

British - Pink Floyd. They have done amazing things in several musical styles, but always were the epitome of originality. What other band had (and this includes the Beatles) a range going from "Watching Emily Play" to "The Wall"? A real shame they broke up.

Other (Irish) - U2. 'Nuff said, I still haven't found what I'm looking for. I wish I could be exposed to more countries' offerings, but apart from Mungo Jerry, Bob Marley and the Wailers, the Raspberries, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, they are hard to hear or hear about. Mannheim Steamroller has a new album out every Christmas, but does that count? Probably not. I know there have to be good French, Canadian, Italian, German, Brazilian, et-freaking-cetera bands out there, but I never get to hear them!

Re: ?? Best rock band ever ??

08/14/2008 4:39 PM

I absolutely love this topic and never thought I'd see it in an engineering forum.

I've dabbled in drums and guitar in my youth, then eventually gravitated to drums full-time, giving up the guitar.

My favorite then was Zeppelin, When the Levy Breaks, was the first song that taught me how to play an off-beat... and the flood-gates opened so to speak as a drummer.

The bands I listened to most of my youth, however, I would not categorize as the best 'ROCK' band ever but it at least sets the stage for my frame or reference... Pixies, Black Flag, Sex Pistols, Velvet Underground, Dead Kennedys, Talking Heads, The Undertones... etc.

For me the Greatest Band of all time falls into two categories... popularity and technical competence. All the popular ones have been mentioned many times and many of them are very technically competent as well.

But I found that I always leaned towards those bands that just make you sit back in awe with their skill. So, for the ROCK genre and as a drummer... a choice for me that I have not yet seen mentioned is RUSH and YES.

Both inspired me to form my own band... for many years I went after this goal... lost many a girl friend and got some poor grades in college, also the reason why I droped-out, as a result of this dream. Eventually I gave up because I could never find a group of similarly devoted individuals.

A few years later though, a band came out that had the sound I had in my head... I went to see them on their first tour and it surprised me but you could tell that most of the members of the audience were musicians. I've always referred to them as a musicians' band since then. Each member is just amazing in their own right in regards to their skill.

Their popularity grew, but was never similar to the iconic bands one would think of; their music was just too technical and their songs too long for radio play. Although a HUGE underground movement keeps them alive; their WEB following is crazy.

Anyway... they started out called 'Majesty' but changed to DREAM THEATER...

If you're into progressive rock, you owe it to yourself to check these guys out... they will always be, in my mind, one of the greatest bands of all time.

Some of my honorable mentions are: Godsmack (from a drummer's perspective, check them out on youtube) Triumph (can't really tell you why, I just really enjoy them) and Days of the New (the one band that motivated me to pick up an acoustic guitar again)

Hi javahead,

I gave you a GA for Rush and Dream Theater. Excellent groups with extraordinary talent!

Even as a semi-old geezer, I really like their music.

That brings us to similar talent and rock versions of Christmas: The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Actually 2 of them with members from other groups but they can bring the house down. Excellent!

Thanks Snygolfs for the GA...

And absolutely TSO is a group that definitely deserves mention.. GA, to you as well.

Most all of the members are from a metal band called Savatage. The most recognized song by TSO is Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) which actual is original to Savatage and taken off their concept album Dead Winter Dead.

I've seen Savatage in concert quite a few times and TSO every year except for two, due to military deployments, since they have been touring.

They are absolutely huge in Cleveland. They were heavily promoted by a local radio station and their very first show sold out in hours, they ended up adding two more shows, both of those all selling out in under 6 hours as well.

They have gotten so big now that they have formed secondary touring units. If you check out their website, www.trans-siberian.com, you'll see that they tour at different locations across the country at the same time.

I'm just glad that the original group is the one that always comes to Cleveland.

Hi javahead

Thanks for the Ga and the name of the original group: Savatage.

For some reason I can never remember the name.

A friend of mine really loves their music along with Rush and Dream Theater. He's a big concert goer and has seen them all many times. I've seen TSO several times and am always amazed with their compositions and talent. They booked 2 shows here last year and sold out immediately so they stayed over for 2 more and those sold out also. We're fortunate enough to get the original group as well and they always put on a good show.

I'm not really into Heavy metal per se but as a musician I do enjoy good musical talent regardless of genre, (with the exception of rap...maybe it's just me, but I don't consider it music).

Anyway, thanks again and take care.

Jeff

"...maybe it's just me, but I don't consider it music..."

Must be an engineering thing - a Civil Engineer friend of mine says he can PROVE it isn't music. He says he has a tin ear and can't make music, but then he does a spontaneous rap line, and says if it WAS music he wouldn't be able to do it, but he can, ergo, it ain't music!

Def Leppard- Huge success in the 80's and brought metal to the mainstream and had 3 HUGE albums (Pyromania, Hysteria, Adrenalize). They fought through hardships too (Steve's death, drummer's arm).

I couldn't resist posting to this topic, since no-one had put in a vote for this band:

RADIOHEAD, of course :) (best album of all-time: Radiohead's "OK Computer" - 1997).

Didn't buy this album until 2003 or so (first heard clips on my mp3 player around 2000 and thought I was listening to King Crimson or the like), and so I'm still catching up to the 90's.

Reason being, Radiohead combines elements of the art-rock of the 70's, with ground-braking electronic work, to create something brand new. There's only so many times a person can listen to and enjoy Stairway to Heaven, at least for this 40-something NY'er. :)

One band I don't think has been mentioned in any of the posts is the Who, surely they should be in here somewhere.

See post #42. I gave Del GA for "The Who". They should be on the list for sure.

I'm listening to my 10k shuffle [540 artists] as I type. The mini player is right @ the bottom of the screen so I can just click Next track if I'm not in the mood

I like all the biggie's

LZ, beatles, floyd, BOC, sabbath, CSN, Jethro tull, fz, tom petty, steely dan, talking heads, rush, who

I like some of the more obscure one's;

wish bone ash, Sparks, golden earring, Bee bop Delux, king crimson, captain beefhart, traffic, social distortion, holy role model, Todd rungren, joe walsh, the clash, phish, tubes, sonic youth, devo, crack the sky, alice cooper, guess who..............

I can't possibly choose a favorite, it all depends on my mood. I love when I've got my ipod plugged into a more public stereo & it goes from LZ, Greatful dead, Mile davis, dead kennedy's, ethel merman.... the reaction of my coworkers can be unforgettable.

GA! I feel this way. It is hard to pick a "best group". Sometimes the one you liked best will vary depending on the mood at the time.

Traffic, Joe Walsh, Ethel Merman...?!

Exactly the kind of mix-up I like!

And nobody's mentioned Boston, Peral Jam, Tina (let alone Richard Thompson, Tom Scott & Waterboys, or Laura Paucini...)

There are so many to choose from, old and new.The Who,The Doors,LynardSkynard,Pink Floyd,Led Zep,The Stones, and then you have some great "hair Metal Bands" of the 80's and early 90's-Metallica,BonJovi,MotleyCrue,and can forget the immortal band called KISS,or Black Sabbath and there's my new found favorite band Disturbed(going to see them Sunday),I would really have to say from a musicians point of view would have to be U2,they make and perform great music and they sing and write music about the world in general,to strive for a better place and a better planet. Its a shame no one seems to listen.

The Who. Live at Leeds is arguably the best rock album ever recorded.

Well, it sure shows what's important--can't get a quorum to form over why is it ok for the USA to go around invading "sovereign" countries or why the taxpayers have to pick up the pieces whenever the free market bites the big one, but we all have a favorite "rock" band...

And, of course, if the music gives people a headache it must be great!

So "Live Long and Prosper Punk Kittens"

As for a "real" band? The Who: Live at Leeds (the third reissue with all the "Tommy" stuff on it); the single greatest live album by the greatest, LOUDEST English ROCK band ever--the Beatles[actually John Lennon and Paul McCartney], while arguably the greatest pop band of all (George Martin is probably most responsible for that "Beatles" sound) they rarely rocked out...

Don't like that answer?

SO? F**K You and the Tour Bus you rode in on!
