What is this thing?

08/25/2008 2:31 AM

This thing was found on the lawn in a residential garden about 4m from the side fence wall with a 2 story apartment building.

It is not attracted by a magnet -

Material ss316.

About 11mm thick on the widest part.

The 2 spoon shaped halves were welded together and the joints were machined to a rounded, smooth polished surface.

It is hollow inside but may have something inside.

It floats on water.

The weld is good with no leaks.

There is no attaching mechanism. and no clamping marks.

The only marking is a very slight pimple caused by something sharp from the inside.

My question is - Do you know of any machine or equipment that may use a thing like it.

If not - what do you think it is. I have a 2 suspicions but will rather wait for an answer.

The garden is south of Pretoria , South Africa.

Thanks for any help.

A clockwork chicken's egg?

A space alien suppository probe?

A piece of Mir?

An alien egg... when it hatches the critter will jump down your throat and then when it gets big enough it will explode out of your stomach and chase chicks the rest of its life....

Mein Gott! You've found my neuron. Please don't let it out; I'll be there to get it as soon as I get another weekend pass.

Could also be someone's artificial testicle.... Anyone in the neighborhood walking funny? Sort of off balance?

Gives new meaning to balls of steel...

Best ask PlbMak, respected architect of the CR4 Friday Afternoon Photographic Quiz Programme.

I have seen something that looks identical to this...The only difference was it had a small loop on one end.

That could be used by diamond smugglers to get diamonds out of a mine area (via the big hole - The big hole at Kimberley) without being noticed. In the past they used a piece of mutton leg bone for that purpose.

Caution : Opening it may be fatal. it may contain drugs or anthrax.
