Thoroughly wet the rope and freeze it - it will push just fine.

Out of the box but fun to have around. Welcome, CJM

that's Lesson 2 for you, wannabwise: When posting a question, make sure it is clear and understandable. such types of questions elicit the most response and, therefore, the best answers!

in this case, the "rope" should have a complete description.

anyone want to propose Lesson 3?

Hi Steve,

Let me be the first to welcome you to CR4! I joined up a few days ago and have learnt a lot already - I'm sure you'll like it here. As far as the preface of your post goes - I'm stumped!

umm... work hard, be good to your mother? But I guess you knew that already ;)

welcome to CR4, steve!

the rule still is: it is more blessed to give than to receive.

so while you post your question(s) and get answers, make sure you give back what you have, too, and help out the others.

that's what makes CR4 the funplace that it is.

Quasimodo? Name rings a bell, and I hear he can run like the clappers..
Hmmm, maybe I'll quit while I'm behind.

Quasimodo lost his balance and fell from the bell tower.

A crowd gathered around his now lifeless body.

One asked, "is that Quasimodo?"

Another answered, "if it's not, he's a dead ringer."

Yo...every one a winner.

As he fell his smashed his face against the bell... 'BONGGGGG'
So one of the crowd says.
'I don't know the name, but his face rings a bell'

You'll learn a lot here all right. Among other things, you'll learn how to distinguish between good advice and practical jokes the hard way, and you'll also learn just how gullible people can be from the endless conspiracy theory spouting over-unity crackpots who pop up like fleas every now and then.

Hi Wannabwise ... (don't we all )

For your plain "hello!!", we give you a plain "WELCOME" ... well, actually, nothing's ever very plain at CR4 .

There's a lot of good Q & A here, and a lot of good folks to help ... along with a few disctractions now and then. Sometimes controversial, always fun.

Good to see you here ..

Kind regards .......

Welcome!

One thing you'll learn is that all Brits don't have "dry" humor. Mixed in with some rather sage advice, Del and PW can make you laugh out loud!

This is a very serious website for only the most serious engineers and tomfoolery will not be tolera....Oh hell, who am I trying to fool?We are serious when we need to be (usually) but we are also human(ish).

You don't need to have a great sense of humor here but it really helps! It's also a good idea to have a thick skin because some of these guys can get mean! (not me of course, I'm wonderful!)

Great to have you, welcome.Just don't pee in the pool and we'll get along fine.

Just stay away from the bath breaking thread. Once you go there, we won't see you again anywhere else for a while.

Beware of any products from KrisDel. Consolidated Gookumpucky products are better!

Also, if you check out any of the Picture Challenge threads and happen to spot a thistlewick, let me know. I've been trying to find one for a couple of years now.

Also, there's a guy on here who's not actually an engineer, but a drafter who would like to be an engineer. Sometimes he pulls out his pot-stirring spoon to try to liven up a discussion.

Here are your damn Thistlewicks. The first is Lord Fauntroy Thistlewick and second is Lord Thistlewick Flanders. Take your pick.
