What's in a name ...

07/30/2009 12:54 AM

A GURU now I am, I be

To sit this lofty place.

Now I must grow my hair

To hide my olden face.

When once I only wrote on walls

Whilst sought to defecate

Now I walk these hallowed halls

And seek to pontificate

The wisdom born of years of trial

From my mind I must now pry

For the lives of so many CR4s

On my words will now rely

But, lo, these words are shallow

Just bits amongst the fray

Will anyone find real help

From what I have to say?

But still, Dear Friends, I thank you

No matter the names imply

For to all, the truth is crystal clear

I'm just an average guy.

But one can tell so easily

If the answer's correct or not

One thing's for sure, as GURUs go

We like to talk … a LOT

You deserve it with a wild card even if you don't have 500post, 10% of good answer is a very good case.

Congratulations any way.

Bravo,
As a Guru, I'd have though you would have worked out how to post without the extraneous carriage returns by now.

Re: What's in a name ...

Oh, if only that were true. It is now 2:37 AM, and I'm pushing to finish some last minute details on a project ... endless reports. I keep telling myself this must end someday, but that's just salve for my brain. Frankly, if not for the diversion of CR4 chatter now and then, I'd probably be more crazy than I already am :-) Kind regards ...

Hi gsuhas,

That CR4 'addition' is no bad thing is it? Out of the thousands of sites I have seen, there is yet to be one that better's it! Info' and spreading the word of knowledge is no bad thing right?

I cannot get enough knowledge and I know my favourite place to find it. (If that does not sound too pompous...........).

Take care my friend.............

yeh well, "talks a lot" is relative init. I've only been here six months and passed the 500 mark in spite of my full time ahem self-employment. DCad maybe was holding his breath for part of the time, and then only the good stuff got out... We can't all afford that luxury you know.

okay, call me "socially needy"

Congrats! Suzhou is a nice place to live, once I had been to for one day trip. I have been with CR4 for long time now, but never tried to get good answer scores; though I know how to just get score. In India now most rich people are Film actors, Mafia dons, politicians (uneducated), land grabbers, so on but not Scientists, Engineers, Excellent Technicians; We exchange ideas helping each other and some one gives good answer score it gives immense pleasure that money can give. Recently one engineer from Srilanka thanked me for my help through CR4; I felt very happy; that money can not give.

I enjoyed your poetry. I don't think Guru is a waste of time, but a defender of the faith. As the world slides into the television abyss of reality shows, the true of heart and sharp of mind stay the course. You are a bastion of critical thinking and wise leadership. If not, then who?

DCaD,

Certainly congratulations are in order. As a relative newcomer to CR4 (aside from a couple of posts as a Guest before actually joining) I can appreciate the time and effort contributed from making so many posts. As was commented, this may mean you have too much time on your hands, have become a CR4 junky, or are truly a man of wisdom. And a hearty Good Job for the 50 GA's, which I think speaks more for your capabilities than the total number of posts. Five "gold stars" from me.

Re: What's in a name ...

To all who read, and to all those who responded, a word or two of clarification about my post:

For me, titles are only words, because the true character of a person comes in their consistent actions, and not in what label may be applied. Be it Doctor, Sir, Vice President, Senator, Congressman, Chief Engineer, or Guru, since there is great evidence that many have who do not deserve, and many who deserve who will never be known, the issue of title, in my own mind, becomes one of responsibility rather than privilege.

I have been called (and remain to be called) many things … some earned, some not, some deserved, some not, some flattering, many not. It is the same for our 'good answers'. Some are received but probably not deserved … many are deserved, but never received. But, at "the end of the day", all that matters to me is if I can rest at night hoping I did more things 'right' than 'wrong'. A great day is if someone's life is made better, and those come mostly in simple acts of which few will ever know.

Do I enjoy the titles? Do I enjoy the 'good answers'? Certainly, because I, too, have an ego to be fed. But, my greatest titles are "dad" and "friend", and my best 'good answers', are a heart-felt 'thank you'.

CR4 has become maybe not what it was originally intended, but, if not, it surely is more. We are a community, sharing ideas and knowledge, sharing facts and opinions, sharing questions and answers, and sharing humor and even frustrations. It's all good.

So, from this Mister Vice President Guru Human Being Seeker Pilgrim, thank you, for the accolades and compliments, but mostly thank you for allowing me to be a part of this interesting community we share.

Kindest regards …

Hello DCaD,

Aaaarrrhhhh, .............. After reading your post #34 I have just put my 'hanky' in the wash.

You write a good sentence and a great letter my friend!

I doubt we or most of the wonderful people on CR4 will ever meet 'face to face', but I hope the people whom I call "friend" do not think it 'too forward'?

DCaD, I am pleased and honoured to call you and others here my friend, thank you.

Take care..........

Very well said.

It is the same for our 'good answers'. Some are received but probably not deserved … many are deserved, but never received.

Its exactly like getting wicket on a bad ball and being thrown out of boundary on a good ball.

Only difference is, One is gentlemen forum other is a gentlemen game.
