NO! This is not about global climate change. This is about growing old in New England. Here we complain about the weather. In the winter , we complain about the cold and snow. In the summer we complain about the heat and humidity. On the one or two days with perfect weather we complain because we don't have anything to complain about.
Is it because I am growing old, or is it about the technology we have today to control the personal climate we live in? Right now, we are going through a typical New England July heat wave, hot and humid. As I write this, the sweat is dripping from my face, yet the AC is running full time in my house and smoke is coming off the bearings of my electric meter. I just returned from work, The factory where I work is air conditioned and maintained at less than 75 degrees F. not for our comfort, but because our processes are temperature sensitive. After work I jumped into my air conditioned car (the first one I have ever owned with a working AC, but that is another story)
All my life I have, until now, lived without air conditioning. Not in my home, not in my car, not in the factories where I worked, including 10 years in a die-casting foundry. Hot weather never bothered me. Now it does. Why?
Is it just because I am growing old and my body can't adjust as well to temperature changes, or is it because I have become spoiled by living in controlled climates.
