Do I Need a New Better Camera or a Different Photo Shop Manager?

07/29/2010 5:47 PM

Dear Members and guests

As some of you might know in my spare time I paint and have done so for decades. Recently I published a few of my works in Private CR4 Mails and have received some encouraging feed back.

I became an online member of http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/ky-wilms.html. I tried to download some images and had huge problems with establishing an online Gallery. I did contact the organisers of fineartamerica but received no reply to my inquiry about what I could be doing wrong.

I then contacted another member of this site, who lives near me, and asked him about how he did it. He told me that they demand high resolution images, at least 20MB's.

I took the images with a Canon digital IXUS 65 (on super fine position) and end up with the images being about 2 to 3 MB's. I am using Microsoft Picture Manager for the editing and seem to be loosing quality.

Here my question: Do I need a new camera or a different photo shop manager? Please help me out if you can, Thanks in advance, Ky.

I never understood if it was 'the trees not for the forest' or 'the forest not for the trees'

I'll live with it, I have to I suppose .

Yeah, i always preferred 'Flutter-by' to Butterfly :). As an historical aside, it's believed they are called Butterflys because the first ones seen each year in Britain were yellow (Brimstones).

Here's another suggested origin:

"Origin: ME buterflie < OE buttorfleoge (see butter & fly): in folklore, it is thought to steal milk or butter"

[This from http://www.yourdictionary.com/butterfly; also appears in several other on-line dictionaries].

Once you get here, you will see that calling a jungle a yard is not appropriate. Better to do a drive buy shooting on my veranda, for tea. Your welcome, Ky.

Glass of Port anyone?

Great idea Del

There is just one problem: Which of my paintings to I not choose. Although this is a quarter ha lot there would not be enough space to put them all out there.

Maybe one at a time? And wait for the next fly over? That'll keep in busy though, Ky.

Have you thought about a local photographic club. Some amateurs are as good as if not better than professionals and they may do it for fun rather than compensation.

Thanks Tony.

Yes I have and some will have a chance to see my whole collection on display during an exhibition in early September. I will take some shots myself and they will show the size and the potential work involved for any photographer. It's all a bit much and would be a logistical problem getting them all into a studio.

I have all the time in the world, Ky.
