I think things can happen, its how you look at it, what I think is interesting is coincidences.

I on linkIn last Friday and for some reason I searched for the loan officers I did business with for whom I haven't seen in over 5 years. And invited him in my network, the reply was he was out of the office and will return on Tuesday (tomorrow as I write this)

Just today (Monday) I was eating with my girlfriend at the hospital cafeteria, good food, good price and a guy walks past turns and says Steve or ^{in this case phoenix911,} I thought I recognized your voice. and we had talked a little talk......now how strange is that?

I find it hard to accept three or more happenings as coincidence; two maybe. The 17 murders you mention were committed by the same person. This is not a coincidence. A coincidence has to be two separate events. Maybe there is something in the combinations of numbers that result in the number 3. I'm sure there isn't a scientific answer.

the point of dahmer was not a coincidence but how it was not related to 3, or how you can make it into one such as naming 2 other mass murders at realitively the same time.

But the coincidence I was talking about was just the just chance meeting of the loan officer, after making an attempt to get back in touch with him just a few days prior after so long.

I thought it was strange, and this post was the closest thing to stated it with out stated another post about ............ coincidences.

I don't find coincidences happening in 3's. Ron has defined the minimum number of bad things to be two. I think he may notice when 3 bad things have happened & avoid the opportunity more less than desirable situations.

In the end it comes down to coincidence and belief. You can prove anything with statistics if you look hard (or biased) enough. You can prove the same thing with the number 2 or 5, etc.

By number 4 it's not newsworthy. Had there been 3 'wise men', nobody would remember their names ( Balthasa, Melcchior, and the one off that cartoon).

I don't think bad things come in 3's any more than they come in 1's or 2's or other numbers. It seems like Marilyn vos Savant spoke about the topic in her column in Parade Magazine a number of years ago. I just did a quick search on her web site for it but couldn't find it (maybe it was someone else).

Anyway, I think we just like to see patterns in things whether they exist or not.

I'm not sure what 3 hurricanes you are referring to...the ones this year or in a previous year? I recall on a return trip from Japan in 2004 we arrived as Charley was making it's way across the state of FL, then was hit with Frances, Ivan and finally Jeanne. Although Ivan didn't exactly make land fall in FL where I live (Tampa, FL area) it ran up the coast to the west and soaked us pretty intensely along the way, then looped back around after traversing up the southern US, existing back to the Atlantic around VA to make landfall again around Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area (I don't recall if it was only a tropical storm/depression at that point or still a hurricane).

I looked up the term "triple threat" Wikipedia says it was a team of TV wrestlers and THEY ARE ALL DEAD! ooooooh spoooooky!

Maybe it's, "Booze Brain Syndrome", if that's the case, it's completely understandable, I've had several bouts of that, while on here, myself.

You can still get lost if you eat them (the crumbs or nuts, anyway) instead of laying a trail.
