What Does "Food" Mean in Relation to Air Compressors?

12/22/2010 9:12 PM

Info related to air compressor:

Guttering should be attached on all of suction ducts. Inner side of suction ducts have 45° food. If you can't intall the food, inner guide louver should be attached on all of suction ducts. Suction ducts should be installed slit within intervals of 600mm.

I am wondering what the meaning of "food" is? Can anyone please explain?

It looks as though multidisciplinary language has gone completely off the rails here. Sort of like an opera house in which awkwardly pronounced English is translated into English in the projected supratitles....Just listen to a D'Oyly Carte production, and you will understand right away.

My guess is that it is "Feed" as in feed hose written by a Chinese manufacturer.

This sounds as though it pertains to fans rather than compressors. If so, speaking of suction ducts would make more sense. Either make any elbows or tapers less than 45°, or use inlet guide vanes (louvers), for the purpose of making the air flow fairly uniform into the fan.

A duct supplying makeup air to a compressor room should be designed for low pressure drop and the ability to prevent rain/snow from entering the compressor. The most important instruction is never, ever, install a compressor in a room with an operating boiler...ever!

The instructions quoted (are they part of the compressor installation instructions?) should be tossed...they're pure gibberish and make no sense at all.
