You question makes no sense. Ethylene is a gas.

Thes guys might be able to help: http://www.thesafetyequipmentstore.com/personal-protection-supplies-Drager-Tubes-Ethylene-Draeger-6728051.html

They make color-test tubes for many gases, including two ranges for ethylene.

I'm betting a dollar that the below link covers your mystery ethylene sensing application:

Green banana turn yellow in the presence of ethylene. Green apples turn red in the presence of ethylene.

Good Luck, old salt

The double bond structure breaking of ethylene is possible by addition of oxidizing [ Peroxides, halogens, KMno4 or reducing agents like hyrdros, formaldehyde etc.

Refer to the reaction of ethylene with oxidizing or reducing agents including reaction conditions etc.

The reaction product should not interfere with your end product.

As Rakesh said, Bromine water with dichloromethylene as a catalyst should become colourless, though this only indicates the presence of an alkene and not ethylene in particular. This is known as Baeyer's test

I assume that you want to remove ethylene to assist in the transport of fruit or flowers. Potassium permanganate solution spread on an inert white substrate with a high surface area, such as silica or alumina, should suit the purpose.
